    Tax Refunds.

    I'm not done yet. Still waiting for one of the woman's W2s and her 1098-E. Will probably stay about the same regardless. Largest return I've had to date ^_______^;

    My W2 total was around 77k this year. I paid around 13-14k in federal taxes and 4800 in state taxes.

    If you're currently stable in your finances, you should probably look into increasing your withholdings and just putting the extra money into a high yield savings account. Bank of IRS doesn't give ya any interest.

    Anyway. I wish I was getting that much back. @_@

    I'm only getting $850 federal and $200 from RI. Then again, I was in Korea for part of the year, so I only worked for a few months here in the States. It's enough to pay for my ticket back to Korea next month, so I'm happy with it.

    So W2 was 81k gross but 75k after 401k SS and other misc stuff. 13k paid in federal taxes was correct.

    I'm actually marked a 1 for federal and 0 for state.

    Tyche you have 1 or 2 kids?

    Pretty much. Taking 1 withholding still allows for a pretty massive tax check at the end of the year and you get more to stick in some hidey hole gaining interest.

    This is the first year we're actually going to take our taxes to an actual service to make sure we aren't missing anything since we just bought the new house etc. After that back to Turbo Tax.

    lol nice. This is my first year doing them myself. How much does the mortgage help? I think it gave around an extra 500-800 but not 100% sure.

    It's the interest of the home that's deductible, not the principle. When you pay extra, you pay down on principle.

    I'd do it on TurboTax first, then go to HR Block or w/e after and compare.
