Is there a way to set the number of colors used by the OS?
I remember something in the control panel, but it's been a very long time since I had to do anything with it.

im not seeing anything and i cant imagine i did any physical damage. Really strange

If it happens on your TV and the laptop screen, sounds like a video card issue. Does this happen during boot up? Can you boot to a windows boot disk?
-
I don't believe the computer came with one. I am also far from computer savvy unfortunately. Trying to keep from having to take it to the geek squad or something. During boot up the asus sign and windows symbols have color.

Try fn+f8, that's the display toggle.
If you're seeing normal boot up that would imply your video card is still functioning normally.
-
I figured it would be something simple but fn+f8 isn't working.
-
Try updating your video card drivers. My g73 twice has started screwing up displaying on a second monitor, and both times I updated to the newest nvidia drivers and it fixed the problem.

Remove the battery, and on the bottom of the computer is a little panel you can probably open using a small phillips screw driver. In there you'll see anywhere from 1-4 sticks of RAM (green sticks with black squares on them) with clips on either side. Unclip them by pushing the clips away from the RAM and they should pop out easily. Put them FIRMLY back in, and replace the battery.
Try again.

RAM isn't there in a g75. There's 2 slots that generally are left empty that you can access from the main bottom panel. The other 2 RAM slots (the ones that would be in use) require almost full disassembly of the computer to access.

Updated to the newest drivers but no change to the screen.

I ran the computer in safe mode. Full colors so i tried a system restore and all is well!
