Efficient ways to level without city and story quests

Let's say I used the story quests and ALL city quests leveling the 3 mages classes to 20, and suddenly feel like I want to take a completely different path at launch.

What are my options to level efficiently 2 ou 3 more classes to 20, without the aid of city and story quests ?

Fate hunting ? is there a way/guide to do it in an optimal way ? how would you proceed ?

    Non-legacy peon obviously.

1-10 will go quick regardless of what you are doing. Run around slaying random mobs and racking up chains isn't to tough. By the time you get to 10 you can do leve quest which can stack up to 99. If you have classes at 20 then you already have duty finder unlocked. So while you are doing leves or chaining mobs (while hitting up every fate you see) you can have your flag up looking for level 10 guildhest. By the time you get to 15 you can then do dungeons in the same manor. Dungeons rack up great exp and will probably carry you from one dungeon level to the next rather easy.

You could also chain mobs that are 1 to 3 levels ahead of you while hunting out FATEs in the area with your favorite dungeon duty finder up. If you're good, you will get stupid amounts of exp this way. Most effective if you have your chocobo or another mount.

Best way would probably be spamming duty finder and/or having a dungeon static.

After completing the hunting log, I did the remainder of the teens on one of my classes in Western La Noscea (? near Aleport). I think others here have mentioned that alongside Eastern Shroud (which I can't really speak for, having not tried it yet). I don't know if anyone has hammered down how the FATEs repops work yet, but the Aleport region's FATEs all are in the mid-teens, and are relatively clustered to each other so it's easy to get to a new FATE, so my downtime was usually limited to whatever time it took to get to a new FATE. I think anywhere that falls within these general rules will be a good FATE chasing area.

This was because like a third of the zone is sealed off, though, so I don't know if this will be the case at release; it might end up you not being able to get to the FATE half the time or something. (shrug)

There is an EXP Bonus for FATEs, if you already have a high level job. The larger the discrepancy between your highest level job and your current job, the larger your bonus. If you have a maxed job and are starting a new job, you'll get a larger bonus for FATEs.

There are also more bonuses if you allow Duty Finder to randomly select the content/dungeon (available in 2.1). You'll be able to earn tokens. This is good because you can actually be working towards items, and chances are you'll be grouped with a person clearing content for the first time which is another EXP bonus.

Okay, guys... I think we all should know the answer to leveling without quests is queue in Duty Finder while doing FATEs, levequests, and/or generally killing things. There's a dozen places to do that though, and I'm assuming some of them suck less than the others.

Regarding Guildhests, say you do it on CNJ and you used up the bonus EXP rewarded for first timer, will you still get some bonus if, say, you go as THM even though it's your first time as THM?

I'm sorry if that previous post came off as antagonistic or something, but I doubt I'm the only one looking for more advice on efficient leveling that's a little more helpful than "go do the other things."

Even if something isn't the best thing since sliced bread, it might be nice as an alternative for sliced bread. Or something. Like I posted earlier, I found Western La Nocsea pretty efficient, but I'm not particularly looking forward to doing it five more times, lol.

It's because SE said it already they don't want people to grind on trash mobs like we did in 1.0 and XI

So to XP you need to

    1) Guildhest (XP is meh unless you do it for the first time)
    2) Levequest (3 per 12h is OK i guess)
    3) Quests (sadly don't have unlimited)
    4) Fate (Awsome spot)
    5) Hunting logs (good XP and separated by classes)
    6) Main Story (one again only one time)
    7) Dungeons (can repeat)

So Point 1-3-6 can only be one once total for good XP
Point 5 is each job so that's good
So you have 4-7 to spam and levequest when avaialble

level one job up to 50 first? I'm guessing because of the xp buff I get 500~ xp per mob in dungeons so long as the dungeon level is the same as the character level I'm playing. Do fates while running around doing hunting log. From 16-20 I was getting 1 level per dungeon run on ACN.

Speaking of which, I think I got a 50 percent bonus all the way from 1 to 20 (where I stopped getting experience and caught up to my highest anyway). Did it actually go higher than that for anyone who leveled arcanist on legacy accounts? I just found it funny that it says it scales... but it never did changed lol

The only way it will scale is if you use XP food or rested XP

No legacy players won't get higher XP bonus

And no I doubt that the bonus scale from lv to lv

The way I heard was to get as big of a party as possible (up to 8), and go to an area 3-5 levels above yours and kill everything in sight while looking for FATEs. The reason for the large party is that, once you get into a FATE, you're more likely to get full credit for most/all of the mobs since more mobs will be tagged to you.

If you or your party don't tag a mob in a FATE, then you have to do a certain % of it's HP in damage to get credit for the kill (30% is the number being thrown around, though I have no idea where that number originated). In a packed FATE, mobs are likely to die very fast, and risk missing out on some if you are alone or grouped with too few people. Also, having so many people in your group means that you'll ALWAYS have enough people to participate in a FATE, rather than sometimes finding one when nobody is around and having to pass it up because you can't solo it.

    At/around Limsa:

    Aleport at 15 for FATEs
    Swiftperch/Moraby at 10 for FATEs

Actually, here is a good map that gives level ranges, FATE locations, gathering nodes, etc.

I found East Shroud to be an excellent place to level all the way to your late 20s and early 30s due to how frequently the Lazy Laurence FATE spawned. It gives 9-10k exp and other FATEs in the area spawn almost as frequently and are very close to Lazy Laurence.

South Shroud will probably be better when you're in your late 20s and early 30s during retail though since the Golem, Coeurl King, and FATE to the South of the Golem will be cleared. No one really bothered to do them phase 3.

up till 15 i think Hunting Logs and Leves are pretty good.

but the former is 'one time only' and the latter limited by allowances you can get.

once you're 15 and have dungeons unlocked i believe grinding dungeons is the better way to go... so from there you can put yourself up on the Duty Finder.

i've found that chain duo-ing mobs around 2 levels higher than you is pretty efficient.. but then again it could just have been my other party member. seemed like a good dps
