Do want. Reminds me of Blade Runner sorta, and the VO sounds like the one that did Lara in Tomb Raider Legends which is a bonus.

Really weird seeing Capcom publishing a new IP though.

The idea of memory remixing is like a psychological butterfly effect, without the time travel. I really like the premise and hope the actual combat is also great.

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono is offering his advice to Dontnod Entertainment as it builds eye-catching cyberpunk action adventure Remember Me.

Ono, who made fighting games mainstream again with Street Fighter 4, has visited the Paris development studio to help with the game's fast-paced melee combat.

"He's my boss and he and I speak very regularly about the game, and he's come out with me to Paris," Capcom senior producer Mat Hart told Eurogamer. "He knows the team and knows the game very well. I always benefit from his wisdom when I'm chatting to him about how we're progressing."

He added: "It's a bit like the situation Capcom has with [Devil May Cry developer] Ninja Theory. The strategy of western development is building teams together - Capcom and a developer coming together and making a game together - as opposed to quite an old-fashioned approach of being adversarial. We're moving away from that.

"This is something Jean-Maxime [Moris, Dontnod Entertainment creative director and founding partner] and I have worked on very hard to ensure this is a collaboration. When we saw the game way back last year, we instantly knew this had the DNA to support the Capcom brand and be a really strong part of our portfolio. This is going to be a major franchise for us.

"So having that kind of Capcom crunch you expect, of course, and that's stuff we want to talk about in a much wider context as we get closer to launching the game. At this stage it's fair to say Capcom fans are going to enjoy this game."

Remember Me's combat system is combo-based, with finishing moves and dodges added for depth. "What we tried to is keep those combos as accessible as possible so they don't take too much skill to perform," Moris told Eurogamer.

Also included are special moves, unlocked as you progress through the game and triggered via a special power wheel. These allow protagonist Nilin to "turn the tide of battle," Moris said.

"On top of that will come much more depth, as well. That we'll talk about later."

I'm not a huge fan of the 'cinematic' sequences where games try to make the situation look challenging when in fact you're just climbing a wall and a helicoptor is shooting panels around you, but you'll never get hit. It was in Uncharted a lot and it got a bit boring to have these grand sequences where there's no actual skill involved in surviving as long as you hold the climb button down and keep pressing up. That said, I'm a fan of dystopian settings (along with everyone else in the world of 2012 it seems), so I'll definitely keep an eye on this.

At the New York Comic-Con, Capcom held a panel featuring producer Mat Hart and lead artist Aleksi Briclot, both members of the Remember Me development team, who showed off playable footage from the game and discussed its world.

A few points of interest from the panel:
    • Remember Me takes place in Neo-Paris, a city that has gone through civil war and natural disasters. When the game takes place, the city is in an era of regrowth and re-construction.
    • Citizens are looking forward to a period of peace. The new memory technology, Memoreyes, that the game’s story works around, lets them forget painful memories of the past.
    • In the world of Remember Me, memories are bought, shared, traded, and stolen. Memories are analogous to social networks like Twitter. Everyone has a memory implant that allows them to record their memories.
    • Neo-Paris is divided into three areas: Deep-Paris (slums), Mid-Paris (closest to current-day Paris), and High-Paris (a Utopia filled with high-reaching towers where people freely share memories).
    • The goal, art-wise, was to create a believable future. One example of this is how jeans are still in fashion and Nilin wears them, but that she also wears futuristic-looking gear on her arms.
    • The device on Nilin’s right arm is a “Spammer”. It allows her to fire pieces of junk data that can be used to overload other people’s sensory devices, which are the aforementioned memory device implants everyone has.
    • Combat system designed with depth in mind.
