World Transfer Character Name

I'm in the process of trying to change servers. I had an old character with the same name on the server I'm going back to already though.

I deleted her, logged out, and then went to The Mog Station to initiate the transfer. Even with the character off my account, it's still saying I need a name change when I chose my new destination world, and the world I'm transferring from.

Am I screwed on this or do I just have to wait a bit?

EDIT: Noticed that the Lodestone still has a character profile for the deleted character

8-12hrs after the character has been deleted the name will become available. I dealt with this when I lost a character and remade one with the exact same name while waiting for a character restore to go through.

I did the same when I transferred from Excal to Sarg. I had a char with the same name on Sarg, deleted it, and transferred immediately.

My char was lvl 1 created for the sole purpose of catching up with people though. Don't know if that made a difference but anyway, it worked straight away for me.

Yeah, it worked the way Shen said. I went out for the night, came back and it worked like a charm. Glad I didn't put it off until this morning because SE just cut off character creation on my intended server this morning.
