Have you ever regretted a vote?

Ok I don't want this thread to turn OMG rata you are dumb and you should go vote.

I decide to not vote and it is my decision. I personally believes that all politicians are just liers and they will tell the population what they wanna hear, just to get elected and then they will do w/e they want when they have control.

If you wanna post your reason why you wanna vote or don't wanna vote it's fine, but the goal of this post is Did you ever regretted a vote, in the sense that you voted for someone based on what they said, and when they got elected it became the opposite.

Like not listening to the population or w/e reasons and you can feel free to explain why you did or did not regret your vote.

Let's try to keep this civilized with people's opinions

That's why there is write-in spots. I voted Zombie Ronald Reagan for that past two elections and Bill Clinton for the ones before that.

But when they talk on the news after they never speak about how many % voted for dumb names or invisible people. But mostly 'mmm only 27% voted we need to do something"

I feel that this has more impact then just 'invalidate your vote' no?

I voted for Nader. It didn't really matter since I'm from Texas. You should find a reason to vote for someone. I voted for Kerry, but mostly because I was voting against Bush.

Acting like there is "no difference" between politicians in a race is a very dumb thing to do.

You can argue that voting isn't worth your time, but pretending like policy differences among politicians don't exist or are meaningless is wrong.

Kinda wishy washy on voting for Stein in 2012. Felt good voting for who I wanted that year, but I also feel stupid because I realize the Green Party are a bunch of idiot idealists that would never actually get anything done if elected.

I never said that, I said that they like to say 1 thing during election, then do the opposite after

QC Liberal Government, cutting where they said they would save during elections

They insisted that they wanted to free up QC's debt but they wouldn't touch the education

Now they keep cutting budget to schools and all, Teachers cancelling Halloween events because government is cutting their budget and etc

QC Liberals raising the Doctor's salary, but to do that they cutting some establishment budget, due to that some center have to cut number of employees during specific time because due to budget cut they won't have enough money to pay them

So yeah it happens often that politicians says Don't worry we won't cut there, then they finally do it, laughing in the face of people electing them

I didn't think there was a contest going on, but I think kurono wins the thread so far.

If you don't vote then don't complain about the way that things are run.

I regretted voting for Lindsey for prom queen. Should have done the smart thing and voted for my girlfriend at the time. Really shit the pot on that one.

I'm sure 99.99999999% of people that voted NDP in Alberta are like "WTF did we do?" for the provincial election

I regret voting for Dianne Feinstein in the past, though in her most recent term I did vote against her in the primaries.

Compared to what I posted I don't complain, I'm just giving example of why I don't vote.

Only voting regret I had is the first election I was eligible to vote for after turning 18. I didn't do shit for research on the candidates and outside of the few I knew, I voted on the whole party line thing. I now do a lot more research on my voting now, but that usually still winds up with me voting on the party line due to how ass backwards most of the republicans in california are as a whole. About the only time I find my vote going towards the "republican" side is typically on taxes, and that's mainly due to the fact both sides (especially on the transit end) wind up wasting the money so they come at us for more tax revenue. Fucking 10% sales tax now in some parts of the california bay area.

Don't whine, we have a metropolitan tax that hikes us close to that coupled with pretty much every expensive store on the planet being the only place to get anything above Wal-Mart quality.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

As for me, no. But I tend to not regret actions, or at least not for long. Even if someone were to turn out poorly, I know that I voted with best intentions with the information I had.

Rata, part of what you speak of, to me, seems like it comes from parties not knowing the full picture before they make their platforms up. Sure, they can promise the sun and the moon, but they don't have the full picture when they do it.

That being said, I also didn't vote a few times a while ago. Personally, this election, I figured I was tired of the Conservative bullshit and wanted to actually have whatever small part in deciding who's actually in charge. It's not usually like me, but my stance as of late is, you're an adult, you have a responsibility to vote. I mean, I didn't read all up on things, I took a political compass test, and did a few questionnaires online to see what party I aligned with and voted.

I don't care about personal drama for candidates... or their hair. I care about what the party stands for and how it looks like it will affect the country. Perhaps your point is that you don't expect things to change, but they definitely won't change if people don't vote how they want to vote, or vote at all.

It's already too late for you to vote anyways. I totally see why you wouldn't want to, and you can totally continue to go that route. I would just urge you maybe take a second look for future elections.

edit: The spoiling your ballot, or not marking it is dumb. If you go through the trouble of going to the place and voting, then you might as well mark a candidate. Take the 15-20 minutes to figure one out ahead of time.
