Vaydal Wrasse doesn't work. Neither does the new jellyfish thing.

Anyone care to elaborate on WHY one would want to trade fish to these? Is there some sort of Apkallu-Hate system that requires Fish to reduce?

There's an entire thread showing that an Apkallu hate system clearly exists. As every other mob-specific enmity (Tonberry, Fomor) can be eradicated using a simple method, it's natural to assume that the same can be done here especially as there are NPC versions of them for no apparant reason that will follow you if you trade certain fish to them for, again, no real reason.

I thought someone said wrasse do work. Anyways, Lakerda, Tuna, Kilicbaligi, and Ahtapot all work. From this I assume Grim & Marlin would work aswell.

The point: to have a pet penguin!!

I thought about my situation some more. I had killed King Penguins, not the regular kind (the ones where you escape at). The King Penguins had their own NPCs and the regular had their own as well. Maybe I should go back and try again but lazy maybe later.

I think there might be a hate requirement, anyone who has gotten one to follow you around, how many apkallus have you killed?

I didn't try any from the list that supposedly work yet.
