Friend had a christmas tree in her house from last year. Same tree as her nation in case thats part of it. Once the event started her moogle gave her a "special gift" which is basically just a air rider. So when she used it we were all like awwwww, but then she was like omg it gave me a dream hat+1 lol. So im guessing thats how you get it this year hope this helps. =)

and it seems if you dont already have a tree, just place the tree in your mog house, get 'max joy fame' by trading presents and fireworks to kids until smilebringer says they love you, then wait til jp midnight (10am est) and speak to moogle for gift.
