    Myth Busters~

K so there's a few myths that i would like addressed by the obviously "successful" crafters on this thread... If you would be so kind as to give feedback to each of these when you reply, i would love you forever <3

    1) Wearing Barspells and Elemental Stalves while crafting (yes i know lvl100 crafters on my server that still swear by these)

    2) Mog houses with "overwhelming" element to the element of your guild furnature. Does this effect HQ rates?

    3) Facing a specific direction (i have a huge chart on what direction you "should" face for NQ and for HQ/skill up depending on which crystal you use)

    4) This is the one that most concerns me: Time of day, day of the week, and moon phase. I know this effects choco digging and fishing a LOT, but i've seen some people in this section say its total hogwash for crafting.

    5) i guess you can throw in your own myths here or others you've heard about and laugh at them. <3

    thanks a lot ^^

Only two I'd go with are

    - Facing certain directions
    - Moon phase and day

Best rumour i've heard was that you needed clear weather or view of the sky to get the elemental days effect...

If you face the correct direction with the relevant HQ staff, you can get 100% HQ rate on the same element floor in Temenos East with that crystal.

Save your flames, semi-wall-o-text, and remember this is just my opinions^^

    1. I don't think barspells or staves or elemental resistance would have any effect, haven't tried it and still get HQ's so i say MYTH

    2. Mog house energy hmmm, i never messed around with this it definatly does affect gardening, but crafting iono. some TRUTH to this one

    3. Direction, i always use to do synths by direction but lately I've found it to be a crock of shit. I remember someone asking if BLM spells increase from facing a certain direction? lol So i thought hard about it and figured why would you want to face one direction?! The "stars" are parts of constellations and they are always around you everywhere, so your facing fire star so what?, wind star is still loving you from behind  Also i know how people think you should face the element your crystal is weak to, for more HQ but why in the helll would i want it to be weaker?! HQ should be stronger? no?

    4. This is your best bet imo, day of the week. BLM spells go up in damage on certain days right? Moon phase definately has an effect but how much of one?

2/3 on Triumph earrings standing next to the Galka npc in lower jeuno fountain spot, darksday, waxing crescent

0/20+ doing tests on other days of the week and .... facing directions....

    oh forgot

another myth was if you were synthing, and you were just looking through your inv while synthing, you had a higher chance of breaking.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    1) I wanna say no, that's something I don't think SE would make that indepth though I've never tried it.

    2) Not sure about the guild furniture, I have 40 tarutaru stools on my mule for her desynthing and I can tell you I seemed to have a higher success rate out of it.

    3) (main reason why I posted) no no no no no. At Fan Fest someone asked the map designer if facing directions made any difference. He made some joke like "if you truly believe it could happen", basically saying, no direction doesn't matter.

    4) I tend to focus more on days of the week than moon phase to help me. I definitely know when I try desynthing on ice day I break break break break. But on lightnings day I don't break nearly as much. So that says to me there's some difference. I haven't been in the crafting business long enough to say about hq rates on moon phase.

    5) Someone needs to tell me about a digging myth. I'm stuck on lvl 4 dig and have been forever (I know it takes a long-ass time). I heard a rumor you had to dig up those goblin digger items (ex. Goblin die) and do the quest in selbina...(errr or mhuara i forget) to get to the next lvl. Someone else said you have to dig in so many different zones. <.<; I want lvl 5 ;_; Anyone know?

just dig dig dig till you go blind from staring at the screen too long, seriously.
Try hitting up zones you normally don't and you might be suprised at what you can get, and try to go for items you never had dug up before. I f i were you i would go to desert and try to dig up a philos. stone, plat. ore, gold ore, darksteel ore. The jungle is also very nice place to try at your lvl, you can basically dig up all the rare+ items at your lvl and theres tons of expensive logs there. People say it cost 7+ mill to get to A10 but what they don't say is you will make 10+mill on the way to A10.

Someone needs to feed me a link to a Chocobo Digging Guide (preferably not a $5 scam thingy on eBay)
so that i too can loose my vision to ffxi digging.

No, this isn't even a placebo effect. It's just stupid thinking.

Guild Furniture adds 1 skill to your craft. That's all. Anything else is a placebo.

    Placebo.

All of these are placebo except moon phase. Moon is just a crock of shit.

Let me give you a quote you can use in the future:

    Successful crafters have theories.
    The best crafters have none.

The goblin item myth with chocco digging. If a goblin digger buries something and you dig where he buried it you gain a greater skill increase. It sounds inplausible but so is a hidden skill tbh...

As for direction the blm quote kind of hit home. Just done some skill up synths in random directions and got 3 in 7 synths @97, my world is collapsing.

edit - the reason i used direction before was because, you had to face a direction random or not so why not use a placebo... got quite addicted to it though.

    WALL_O_TEXT_WARNING

ffxi.somepage has some lists of some items you can dig in all the zones, which can be helpful. You really don't need a guide to tell you about digging. I'll tell you that digging is boring till you get to atleast /wait 6(minus 4 for digging animation) then it gets easy. one thing about ffxi.somepage is how they mark how rare certain items are is very unreliable.

here's your freebie guide via me:
0-1: grab your choco gear and about 12-15 stacks, follow a gob digger around, keep digging till you see him bury somthing, dig up his crap item, dig , dig [20-100 stacks]
1-2: you will know when you hit this lvl, your /wait is practically halved, keep doing 0-1 and stick to noob zones still but try the 2nd tier areas too lke konshctat[50-150 stacks]
2-3: your almost at no /wait, this lvl is the most annoying, you get the "must wait longer" message still unless you time digs right, move on to higher lvl areas for more skill(pashow=black rocks, silver ores, easy for low digger to pull up)this lvl you can dig out about 20 stacks~ greens per run[100-200 stacks]
3-4: same as 2-3 basically, once you hit lvl 4 you're at no /wait inbetween digs[200-350 stacks]
4-10: dig for profit, dig better areas ie. jungles, deserts, sanc. Zi'tah.
If you go through about 1 stack of greens and get nothing it's safe to say zone is dug-out so move-on new zones, after this lvl to test when you lvl upzone into any zone that is farely straight-forward and keep trying to dig till you can, remember this spot, evry time you lvl up you will be digging quite some distance earlier then last spot

    .
imo, it helps just for the 1st lvl or so of digging where it can be hard to even dig a pebble, and wait is so long in between digs that it's worth it to follow them around while you dig for the chance at 1 item.

Ya my whole digging career has been in the jungle. My crafting mule is doing ww to 100 (only 69 but it's getting there @@), it worked out well since I could turn the logs into lumber for even a bigger profit (and when I hit 100 maybe hq them). I tried a few times digging in the desert, I've tried maybe 5 times, got two p. stones (almost peed myself the first time), but of course since the p.stones are the most expensive drop I found the desert rather annoying since more often than not I get there and it's already all dug up. So I went back to the jungle. XD

    Thanks everyone for the info though I've been wondering about that for awhile. @@;

I just sucked it up and broke even on oak logs and mistletoe in Jugner and Carpenter's Landing until I could get adaman and orichulcum ore. Plowed through the middle levels that everyone complains about in no time, didn't lose money, and started making good gil a lot faster than people that I know who tried to stick with jungle and desert.
