Cooking 99 -> 100

ok dont shoot me right away on this one, but I've been told by a number of people that although the skill cap for red curry is 100, you can never actually reach 100 on it, and only cursed soup can get you to 100. one person told me they synthed red curry over and over at 99.9 and never got that last .1. Is this true? (Man, except 99-100 cooking is a breeze to skill up... No one wants red curry and cursed soup doesnt sell because you need the abjuration).

and yes, you can get 100 on it. How many times did he actually try? I've gone 20+ synths without a skillup before, shit happens.

So like here's my problem with cooking. It's the pussy craft. It was my first craft 100 and i would complain about synths that cost like 500 gil and i'd lose like 100k going from like lvl 70-80 and people would be like STFU. So like I'd complain about how cooking is soooo hard. Then I leveled bonecraft, I spent more lvling bonecraft to 60 then I did lvling cooking to 100, seriously get over it, who cares if you can't sell cursed soups, NPC them, the Royal Jelly is free and the other shit comes to less then 50k. Suck it up, farm it and don't be a crafting pussy.

Yes Red Curry works to 100 as well but it's a 100k loss on my server so I did the soup from 99>100.

edit: also you can make alot of money while farming for chips by killing the Killer Mushrooms for King Truffles, make money on hedgehog pie like crazy while farming for jellies

Farming Jelly is boring as shit. I'd rather take pure loss on rice cakes (vendor ftmfw) to 99 while stockpiling dragon meat, and farm something else.

BTW, I made about 2.5 mil levelling cooking 0->95 in 2 weeks. It's so easy; anywhere there isn't something that sells fast on AH for good money, you can just drop/vendor your results for a cost of 2k or less per synth.

I did some red curry which I sold for a profit at the time, and some cursed soup which was like a 10k loss.. LOL. I got lucky when I was crafting.. got my 99-100 in under 20 synths.

I'm not complaining that 99 to 100 is hard, I had just heard things and I wondered if they were true.

and ya a while ago I was making squid sushi to skill up. Sure, its more expensive than other stuff you could skill up on, but people actually buy it, so I made a some $ on it.

Cooking isnt huge income, but it's steady. you profit off stuff becuase of the continous demand for the consumable goods, not because you risk losing 10 mil breaking the synth on some rare item that might sell big if you manage to HQ.

No one hates cooking, they just hate cooks that complain about the cost...I mean, I'll lose more in 1 synth if I ever make a push for 99-100 CC than a cook will lose in his/her entire 0-100.

Also, cooking is a bit of a chore, because it's all high volume/low profit margin (along with alchemy) so it's really vulnerable to people screwing up the marketplace and takes alot of work to turn a decent profit.
