I don't think they really say what it is but all I care about is that its a field of protection, so it's essentially a force field. So kewl ><. I want one in a backpack! That will stop the older kids from throwing things at me

Probably something that emit wave at a frequency that make those missile explode <_< Creating an electro magnetic field strong enough for that is unlikely, they couldnt carry a power source big enough.

Actually Aircraft Carriers and Destroyers have had this technology for years (you see it in Sum of All Fears). It is basically a radar system attached to high speed motors that turn a turret. If you examine the video you see small projectiles flying in the opposite direction of the rocket before and after it explodes. Also they display a tiny explosion (gunshot?) on the vehicle in the computer animated portion of the video.

It shoots a projectile at the incomeing missile. The whole 'Force Field' is a gimmick. It's not a real force field. Thank god it saves lives. Wonder how much it costs?..

Other then that, we know it shoots something but the missle keeps going, unaffected, like nothing hit it.

I'm not sure it actually does fire a projectile, or at least a single projectile. It may spread flechette almost like a counter measure but i really don't know.

To be honest you can't tell whether or not it shoots a projectile from the video, that's just conjecture, but it is a possibility.

missle doesn't keep going in its entirity.

As long as the explosive head gets detonated, the remainder may make contact, but it more than likely won't pierce the armor or do any damage.

it disables the explosives, so the only thing still flying at it would be the empty shell which wouldnt do jack shit compared to the explosive round.
