    The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

This anime owns. Has anyone else seen any of it? It only has 2 episodes out so far though.

    http://a.scarywater.net/afk/

And as my friend told me when he suggested watching it "promise me you won't shut it off in horror after the first 5 minutes."
It all makes sense once the episode ends.

I don't know personally... I watched the first two episodes, but it doesn't seem like anything special.

I'll check it out later, but some of my recommendations are:

Ouran high school club (funny and good fun to watch)
    Eureka Seven (good shounen)
Karas (some of the best CG I've seen in anime, good action and production)
ERGO PROXY (probably my fave series right now)

First ep of Tokko should be fansubbed in the next few days.

A far from ordinary school story starts here!

This is a story of Suzumiya Haruhi, who upon enrollment at school announced "I have no interest in ordinary humans. If there are any aliens, beings from the future, or super-humans, come see me. That is all!"

Naturally, any normal person would think "What the...?", but Haruhi is dead serious. Things get crazy when everyone realizes just how serious she is about it all and establishes the "SOS Dan".

Suzumiya Haruhi is a good-looking high school girl who has a clear head, haughty personality and very egocentric thought. She has an unimaginably tremendous power to change the world, but she is totally unaware of her own power and so she is also unaware of the effect of her power on the outside world.

A delightfully strange, yet marvelously interesting story!
    Ill check it out

Great anime, first episode = win

Asahina is the only female anime character I can stand (that's cute)

the random episode order confused the crap out of me...

the fucked up episode order is just annoying and has no purpose. other then that it's a good anime.

I kinda like the episode order. They manage to keep the pace of the story going nicely without having to follow the same old routine of:

    5-6 episodes for initial arc
    3-4 crap/filler episodes
3-4 episodes completing the first 13
    6 crap/filler episodes
5 episodes completing the first season.

Call them what you want, the "bullshit" episodes that usually land around 7-10ish and 15-19ish in a 24-26 episode series. The ones that don't really move the story forward at all. Alone, they're ok, but when you get a string of a few of them in a row where absolutely nothing happens a series gets boring...

That only tends to happen in shows that HAVE to stretch out relatively thin material to begin with (Bleach, Naruto, any of the shonen power-fantasy series).

Haruhi's just an oddball comedy. No such thing as 'filler' when all you have to do is be funny and offbeat. Witness FMP Fumoffu!

i just woke up and it took me about 5 minutes to comprehend that lol

it's kind of dissapointing that it's ending at 14 episodes; but since most run 13... it might hint at a second season? from what i've read though, kyoto picked up kanon some crappy emo hentai anime to remake... and everyone's all hyped up on that ;(

I expected it to end around 13 or 22/4. You can't expect a show with that good an animation to carry on for longer without budget issues. Least they aren't gonna drag it out =\

It actually happens in even really good anime series that last over 13 episodes I find. For example, I really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop but there's not a whole lot of meaninful content between Jupiter Jazz (about ep.13ish?) and the final episodes of the characters (which starts around ep.20 iirc)

I think it's a necessary evil, the alternative is to try to pack too much story into too little time, to the point where the series feels like it moves at a breakneck speed and that you never get to spend any time with the characters (eg. elfen leid, full metal panic the second raid).

I WISH Elfen Lied was 24 eps, that was such a good Anime, in general I feel 24 eps is enough for most animes and you get to keep good animation consistant and stuff, I'm glad Cowboy Bebop was 26, I loved that anime so much.
