Denver Housing Market (rental)

So I'm gonna move to the front range of the Rockies next week. Latitude has some flexibility, anywhere from downtown Denver north through like Thornton/Northglenn and up to Loveland/Ft. Collins maybe. I know a couple people in both areas, and I can dive into the mountains into all sorts of places from anywhere along that line.

The rough plan is to rent somewhere maybe 3-4 months and then look into buying a place more seriously.. but not until then. So for now, just renting, I'd like any of those areas. I don't think I could afford or should pay for Boulder.

Traffic stuffs
I'm kinda scared of E-470. I mean it's a nice tollroad and I've been on it several times, but I don't want to situate myself where I'd potentially use it all the damn time. I'm contemplating apartments near the airport (5800 Tower Rd), but a lot of the northeast/airport part of the city is barren.
Perhaps I'd like being closer to I-25 and north of the city some.

I'm thinking probably 1200-1500 per month rent, maybe a little less or more.

Should I try to be as downtown/urban living as possible, knowing it'll probably be a few months' stay only?

Look for a place that's right on the edge of Lakewood but technically in Denver.


It's a tiny bit ghetto but Lakewood is really nice and you save a ton by not actually getting into it.

Same general idea with Littleton if you want to go a bit farther south.


As long as you stay out of their school districts you'll get a nice place for a great price.


You should also consider Golden and Longmont, they're less metro but cheap for front range stuff. Look into Brighton if you want to be closer to the airport.

Yeah I'm not bound to be anywhere by work or anything, so it's potentially a wide-ranging search. Most places will be nice; it's colorful colorado afterall. But I would like to be near parks and/or easily accessed trails.. which is also a lot of CO. A multitude of small ones rather than just 1 or 2 big, popular ones like Wash park. So yeah Lakewood area is good, and anywhere even little further east closer to downtown.

I'm lining a bunch of showings up for Monday, and maybe a couple that have leasing offices open 12-5 tomorrow.

There's a complex that I used to live in when I first moved to Denver 5 years ago, corner of Wadsworth and ken caryl, in Littleton. They're technically considered townhomes cause they're all 3 story units but the price was pretty great at $1,100 for tons of SF with an attached garage.

Okay yeah this is like a house hunters episode real quick. Been to several leasing offices and showings -- I like a few things about a few different options:.

#1. I like this 6515 E Union Ave place. It's the DTC neighborhood, near Belleview Station for easy access to all points on the rail system. All pros. The place is like a big spawling dorm with a lot of nice amenities. The main con would be no individual parking garage, maybe high price too.. but could be doable. I think I would network better and quicker being closer to the city in this more urban area.

#2. I looked at units at 5800 Tower Rd, near the airport. It's not so near that jet engine noise is a problem, but it's super close and convenient for when I do have to report to an airport and go to work. It's bigger and cheaper. I have my own garage connected conveniently to the unit's kitchen. I could have a super sweet living room setup that many like-minded nerds on BG would appreciate.

Now north of the city a little on I-25 checking another place or two. Leaning toward #1 and spending a little more money.

DTC is a great neighborhood. Also, you're close to the only Micro Center in Colorado!!! =)

All sorts. Usually spicier the better. I can destroy some Thai or Indian type dishes. Mexican good too. I had this Fiocchi's pizza bar place the first dinner out here in the same neighborhood. I highly recommend the Italian egg rolls

Hands down the BEST breakfast burrito place in Denver. Looks like a dump outside, soso inside, but amazing breakfast burrito. Have to get it to go as there is nowhere to sit and eat.
What to get: Breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon, add cheese and Hot. Say it just like that. Try it without the bacon as well once in awhile to truly appreciate their sausage and amazing hot pork green chili.

Naya I tried the burritos holy cow huge.

I think I will pop my pro sports game cherry with Avs game Friday. Light-railed it up a few times, but no Pepsi center stops yet. I want to go to a Mammoth (indoor lacrosse?) game too, but none for awhile.
