Help with stupid Windows

For some reason my computer doesn't seem to like paint. When I make new images to work on I always make a new paint file and then go from there. However now paint has been replaced. Well my question is, how do I edit what new files come up when I right-click? Below is an image of what comes up now and the lack of paint fills me with fury, rage, and raging fury.

How do I get Paint back? And take out some of the stupid shit too?

You can delete/create the "New" templates with TweakUI, available here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx.

Within TweakUI, they're listed in the Templates tab.

I am going to guess that Paint Shop Pro Photo XI has taken over control of the .BMP files on your computer since bitmaps generally live under the Briefcase on that list.

On any Window's folder go to Tools > Folder Options. Then click on the "File Types" tab and scroll down until you find ".BMP". (Not to be confued with the ".BRP" file extension will causes programs to act like they are a message board administrator.) Click on the "Advanced button, highlight "open" and select the "Edit" button, click on browse and go to folder "C:Windows\system32" to find the mspaint.exe program. You can also reset your icon, and you may have to go into Paint Shop Pro to liberate the file format from being switched back. (Not sure how since I don't have that program, but it is generally under options or preferences.)

After that you should have Bitmap back on that menu. (It's still there, just different.)
