Ive had some conversations with customers and I agree, even @ 20% off a 60G model (480$) that is still too expensive. You would be spending 480$ on a system with 0 great "gotta buy the system for" games. That pricepoint would be ok, if they had the support to justify getting a new video game console.

But yeah, it's about time they lowered the price, not everyone can just willingly wake up one morning and decide they want to fork over 800 dollars (and yes, it's about 800 dollars when you buy the ps3, a game, a 2nd controller, and a mem. card adapter) in 1 go.

Not if they don't have any good games, that is. But my PS2 was dying anyways, it was either wasting more money on slim ps2 or just buying the ps3 and using it as an enhanced PS2 until more games come out.

Yep. I would have gladly bought one on launch if they had at least one title that interested me. If I liked the genre that Resitance is, I might have a PS3 already.

well considering they're already losing $300 a system i dont see how a price drop will help them not lose money. they just need more games that will make ppl want the system and willing to buy all their stuff that actually makes them money.

I dont know why anyone buys the 60 gig model, fuck Wifi and extra memory card slots. I rather get the 20 gig model and use that extra $100 towards a bigger hardrive :D. Then pawn the 20 gig hardrive for gas money.

I'm having a crapload of problems with the Wifi at the moment, so I just hooked it up to a wired connection.

And resistance is fun... (or was fun, for the 5 minutes i've played it)... it's no Gears of War, but it's entertaining.

I am currently trying to finally beat FF12 though (lol yes yes I know...), so not touching any other game until I do (and it will probably be quite some time too, since I only get a few hours a day to advance... and in FF12 it's more like crawling.;

There were only a handful of games I was looking forward to this year GTA 4, FF13, MGS4, and Socom IV. Metal Gear was delayed until 2008, so that leaves three fucking games for a whole year. Lair seems decent, the rest are ports (although I don't mind). Sucks that Resistance is gonna be the only shooter we get until Vegas hits the shelves.

Socom and FF13 will kick the sales up greatly though.

It seems like 2008 is becoming a long shot as well, with AC: Complete, KH2:FM+, and Nomura actually trying to juggle those 2, FF13, AND versus at the exact same time.

Hell it should've been, seeing how they planned a launch without any major title... and they planned to keep this going until August when DMC/MGS were supposed to come out, and even those were pushed back.

This first year is going to test Sony to see how good they are at first party development. Alot of games coming out in 2007 for PS3 are first party, so most people dont know about them. Which is why people think the PS3 only has like 5 exclusives for 2007. The problem with this we dont know if these titles are going to be good or not. We all know that Sony can do a great job with there first party games, so for now we are just going to have to wait and see if Sony can bring there A game.

I think you answered your own question. Since games earn more profit than the systems themselves, whats the solution? True youll be losing even more money on systems, but more people will buy it, and with more people owning a PS3, that means more games sold.
