Really good episode endings make me sad! Discuss!
Really good episode endings make me sad! Discuss!
hello and welcome to like 3 years ago
I haven't started watching it until recently! Meanie!
FMA was one of those awesome anime that make you hate everything else after. Wish there was more anime like this.
Also, go download the movie if you thought the ending was sad.![]()
I think the movie and the ending is kinda emo, so I never actually liked the last arc of the anime or the movies at all.
I still keep up with the manga though, and the story branches off starting from the Greed encounter, so it's a nice read.
It has way more background storyline and more intricate plot IMO.
Still though, spoiling FMA to someone who just started the series was awesome.
I remember this conversation taking place like last year.
LSmember: Awesome, FMA is starting
Me: Eh? What episode is it on?
LSmember: 6 I think
Me: Right, Ed dies at the end of episode 50.
LSmember: ...
Me: Enjoy your dubbed FMA
The one anime that's like that to me was last year's Suzumiya Haruhi. I'm keeping up with the novel translations and can't wait for the next season later this year.FMA was one of those awesome anime that make you hate everything else after. Wish there was more anime like this.
FMA was a great series, I just feel the way they concluded it is somewhat too half assed...and the movie was kinda crap.
Kinda like Evangelion y'know?
Just because it's sad doesnt mean it's emo...I think the movie and the ending is kinda emo, so I never actually liked the last arc of the anime or the movies at all.
I personally thought it was not funny and full of fan serviceThe one anime that's like that to me was last year's Suzumiya Haruhi. I'm keeping up with the novel translations and can't wait for the next season later this yearKinda annoyed me (just watched half the series, so maybe it get better)
Death Notes imo is the best anime this year. I liked Welcome to NHK too, but its quality doesnt match other anime.

I haven't started the anime on deathnote, but I've read the entire manga series, and the ending kinda pisses me off. Plus the whole series goes downhill after...
Ok, I'm not gonna spoil deathnote.
Welcome to NHK isn't as good as the manga...but I was somewhat glad they have the FFXI ripoff episode, that was definitely lolworthy.
I heard they're making Hayate the combat butler, if they don't dumb it down from the manga too much, that's a potentially great series. Also, kara no kyokai anime is coming up too, so seem like gonna be a good amount of decent series coming out.
meh@death note
Code Geass is ftw though
FMA was good by the time I was watching it.
Then again, If I rewatched it, the awesomeness may go down, or even if it is going to be the first time I watch it, it won't attract me that much.
My taste of anime / manga has been changing in past 2~3 years
I saw this the other night. Was that the last episode? Or did his little brother kick some ass? Did anything happen afterwards? Too lazy to look it up.
Evangelion was epic and amazing, worth full watch throughs many times when I was like 16, then I got sick of it.
FMA was epic when I was like 18 and is in all honesty an amazing show, but only so many times I can watch things so I've yet to see the entire dubbed series.
Suzumiya Haruhi however, is a level of epicity (making up words for emphasis) that will never be rivaled in my opinion. Even the anticipation of a season 2 has me scared because I don't want the Haruhi experience to be ruined for me if they fuck it up. - I still throw on the opening of the Mikuru movie episode to hear her song randomly throughout the day, so amazing.
FMA is good, but re-watch it subbed if you have only seen dubbed.
I'm watching Full metal panic (again..) for the girl because she wanted a nice cute series to watch this week and I accidently got a torrent of it dubbed (and I'm too lazy to get the subtitled one) and it makes me cringe.
Compared to say...dubbed Bleach (if any of you exclusively watch Bleach on adult swim...so bad...) it's not terrible, but subtitled is the way to go.
My philosophy is, if you aren't a big anime fan but something catches your eye on adult swim, torrent it get it subtitled and watch it right. Cowboy bebop and samurai champloo are some of the few anime that were dubbed fairly well imo, but 99% of dubbing makes me want to vomit.

sidetrack but...I need some cute series (like FMP or anime similar to how haruhi was done, and I've never been big into other than drama / epic struggle-based anime) suggestions?
The action scenes were the best part of the FMA movie (and watching the "camcorder in the movie theatre" version didn't help either). I didn't mind the series ending though. It was pretty sad, but at least it wrapped up most of the loose ends.
Personally I see Death Note, Haruhi and Jigoku Shoujo as the best recent anime. Although that's just based off seeing about half of Haruhi and reading the DN manga.
Paranoia agent >_>!
A bit older than the others, but the American version is pretty new so I guess it counts.Originally Posted by Tricen

Call me shallow, but I sometime decide anime worth watching by whether or not I like the OP
The first season was alright. Fumoffu was my favorite part of the series, it was just fucking hillarious. As for the second raid, it's kinda too depressing...I'm watching Full metal panic (again..) for the girl because she wanted a nice cute series to watch this week and I accidently got a torrent of it dubbed (and I'm too lazy to get the subtitled one) and it makes me cringe.
Ouran High School Host Club is pretty hillarious, but it is based off a shoujo manga...sidetrack but...I need some cute series (like FMP or anime similar to how haruhi was done, and I've never been big into other than drama / epic struggle-based anime) suggestions?
Shakugan no Shana or Zero no Tsukaima is somewhat "cute" but it has some epic struggle based, though it has waaay more fanservice than what I can stand.
Negima?! is somewhat cute, but it's too fucking random/stupid to my liking, and I kinda rate akamatsu's crap lower than most people. The manga was okay, too bad this particular negima is just a fucking spinoff.
No love for Black Lagoon.
The opening has literally nothing to do with the series lol.Originally Posted by Zilong
I don't think rewatching FMA can ever give you the same feeling you had the first time through when all of these plot twists/shockers come from left field and surprise the fuck out of you to no ends. Certain things may not surprise some like others, but just the level of "Wtf" that goes on throughout that series is just so awesome and to ME, is what made the series what it was.
Just like some games don't have any replayability, FMA doesn't have much of rewatchability (I guess o.o).. in my opinion.
Edit: And yeah, about Paranoia Agent.. the opening has absolutely nothing to do with it. That show though is beyond strange.

Magical Arcade Abenobashi was more than decent imo. Made by the same people who did FLCL. Story is weird and funnysidetrack but...I need some cute series (like FMP or anime similar to how haruhi was done, and I've never been big into other than drama / epic struggle-based anime) suggestions?
Welcome to NHK is a weird kind of funny that is almost depressing. Might be too emo for certain people since there is a lot of crying, but it was good in overall
Excel Saga doesnt really have much of a story, but it's completely random and pretty funny. Every episodes has a different theme ranging from dating anime, to war anime, to stuff like Dragonball and power ranger.
Right now, I'm watching School Rumble and it's pretty good so far, but I don't think everyone could enjoy it. It's in between Azumanga Daioh and Welcome to NHK or something like that.
FMA was a great series, but like all of you said, half assed for sure, movie was great(if you didn't know, told what happend after the series)
classic.
but my favorite type of Anime is like
"Ah! My Goddess!" I wish they will have a 3rd season have heard rumors about it but not sure.
