Just built a new computer and....

I just got my new computer up and running and set up the bios setting and what not. Now my instruction book tells me to install the chipset disk that came with the motherboard. I do so and it only restarts after going to the main screen. I don't have the OS loaded yet so i'm curious if i'm safe to install the OS without these chipset thingy's?

On the chipset disk it just says its like Direct X and other random utility programs.

I'm rather new at this so tell me if I need to be more specific. >_>

The chipset disk isnt an OS program, you cant run it before you have an OS installed.

It's just a normal installation CD, so install the OS first, then put in the driver CD in, and yes, you need to run it if you want the computer to work properly.

Just think of it as a driver disk for the devices on your motherboard...'cause that's what it is >_>
Very important to install once you have Windows on there so that you can take full advantage of the hardware.

Of course there's always the possibility that you'll need RAID/SATA drivers from that mobo CD during windows install. Be prepared to toss the CD in if you have a SATA drive and your PC isn't showing it in windows setup.
