yes each upgrade is only +3 acc when behind an enemy but what about when you 1st unlock it? kind of hoping the acc bonus from just unlocking it is way more then just a measily plus 3. anyone tested?
haven't looked at sam group 2 merits but maybe that is what that locked thread was about.

I tried testing this once and found that ambush doesn't seem to affect the evasion level of monsters when you check them. What I did was find one the thief Aerns in Al'Taieu and equipped various gear until it was regular evasion by just 1 point of accuracy. I then ran to the back of it and checked again, and it was still regular evasion. I did this test such a long time ago, I forget if I bothered to draw my weapons or not.

At any rate, my guess is that the first level is +3 acc as well. Maxed out it would provide +9 acc from behind, which really isn't that bad when you think about it. If I hadn't already spent points in Assassin Charge, I probably would do something like:
3 Feint
2 Ambush
1 Aura Steal

But now I'll probably end up:
3 Feint
1 Ambush
1 Aura Steal
1 Assassin Charge

Feint is really the best group 2 merit thieves get at least imo.
