Japanese Character Recognition Program?
I don't know if this is the right forum, but is there any kind of program that can recognize Japanese characters?
What I mean is, something where I could draw the character, and the program would give me approximations that I could then copy/paste wherever. I'm trying to type something out in Japanese, but I don't have a JP keyboard, (nor do I know how to use one) and going around random Japanese websites trying to find that one character to copy is a pain in the ass. Are there any good programs/websites that could help me out?

Windows XP built in IME program can do this.

Really? Where would I get to the selection process? Do I just click around in Word?

I am absolutely retarded when it comes to finding things. I have Windows XP, but I have Office 2003 installed, and I am finding no mention of Japanese writing or anything. No language tab, no wacky moonlanguage, nothing.

What you are looking for isn't an Office feature, it's a Win XP feature that would allow you even to write in Japanese on the Notepad.
First, you need to have Eastern languages support and Japanese input services installed, if you don't, follow this guide: http://www.woyano.com/view/286/insta...-on-Windows-XP
Then focus on the application you are going to write JP on and select Japanese on the language bar:

Finally, select the "show the language bar" option to view the full bar and go to the option I pointed you to on my previous post.
And Voilà:

Thanks for the help. Have a slight problem, though. On the example you showed me, adding Japanese has the menu looking like this:

But my keyboard input selection only has "Japanese Input System (MS-IME2002)" in it. It seemed similar enough, so I didn't think anything of it, except when I click on the IME pad in the language bar... nothing happens. It appears to be selected, but no selection window or drawing pad opens. Otherwise, my bar looks exactly the same as in your screenshot. Am I missing a plug-in, or do I have my options messed up so the pop-up window doesn't appear?
