I've still never gotten over Wolverines claws not being the exact same distance apart between each other as they were in the comics, it was one of those inexcusable mistakes that really took me outta the X-Men films.

So I can totally understand why I instead of We would cause Spider-Man to be the worst film ever made.

There is a difference between something that is arbitrary and something that is fundamentally intrinsic to the character, without it you change the whole basis of the character.

For example, say that instead of being a piece of creation, they changed the Phoenix Force into a murderous multiple personality. Some people would say that it completely destroys the whole character peeling away 40+ years of character development, while other people say "I don't know shit about these people, nor do I care, I just like shiny lights and colorful things that move around a lot."

Actually I found the first and second Spiderman very boring. It took me two tries to get through the second movie. That's just me, and that's just my taste. The Spiderman lore all together doesn't appeal to me. But when Venom steps into the scene I like the story. Compared to other comic villains he ranks pretty high as one of my favorites. Its the reason I will go see this movie. If he wasn't in this movie, I wouldn't even bother. Now if they fuck up Venom royally... Then Ill have the same opinion of this movie as the OP. Comic book stories are hard enough for me to enjoy so deviating far enough from something I already don't like all to much wont help me enjoy the movie.

EDIT: Compare taking Venom's vernacular away to changing Yoda's to "proper english."

Comic book movies are getting annoying with everyone basing it on the comic book like every other movie based on books or comic book. Of course the movie isn't going to be as good as the comic if you are a huge comic fan, but it should still be an awesome movie.

Well, disappointing or not in the theater, it's probably still a movie worth watching at some point. After so much hype and Venom actually looking somewhat decent (you have to give credit for the mask design and how it turned out at least), I'd at least try to see it on the big screen, opening night or not~

In light of Venom, I'm looking forward more to this.

After being so stubborn for so long about using Venom in the movies, I'm not surprised that Sam Raimi fucked him up as bad as he did. (If some of you remember an interview he did after Spider-Man 2 he specifically said he did not want to direct a Spider-Man film that had Venom in it because he wanted to stick to the Stan Lee villains.)

It seems nobody even bothers to get Venom right these days. I just downloaded the extra Marvel Ultimate Alliance characters, and this Venom too uses I instead of We. And like Sept said, it's not an arbitrary thing. It's a HUGE fundamental part of Brock's character. I used to think of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies as some of the only good Marvel Comics movies. But now, I just don't know anymore. haha. I get a LOT more entertainment and story immersion from the issues of my favorite Marvel series every few weeks.
