    Software Causes Computer To Restart

    Normal software.

Things like Neverwinter Nights 2 and Counter Strike: Source.

I don't even have to play the games, just having them on the computer causes it to restart almost as soon as it is started until you reformat it.

Certain drivers will cause my computer to go on its restarting spree as well.

So is there any reason why normal software would kill a computer?

Right click on the workstation --> property --> advance --> booting and recuperate (not sure whats the name in english, its the 3rd one) --> uncheck reboot automatically.
Next time it will crash, your computer should give you a pretty bluescreen with error message, instead of simply rebooting. Take the error # in note (0x0000 0000 x5) , and google it after.

I seriously doubt installing those 2 games could make your pc to reboot. Make sure your video card driver are up to date, scan for virus and spyware and pray it's not the hardware that is failling (ram/motherboard is usually what cause those reboot, but it could be anything)

Sounds like a heating problem to me. Try downloading SpeedFan and check the specs on your CPU and hard drives to see how much temperature they're rated to withstand. If you're even coming close with SpeedFan (which doesn't provide the most accurate results, but it's better than sticking your hand in the case and trying to guess based on how hot the air feels), you might want to invest in some better cooling, like a CNPS9500/9700 CPU fan or some 120mm case fans.

Actually it can be software sending improper commands to the hardware in the system which could cause the reboots. I remember this was a major issue on one of my previous computers where a bad modem driver on the system would hard reset the machine on a regular basis. Replacing the driver with an updated version resolved the reboot issue. Case in point, make sure your drivers are up to date & have copies of previous drivers in case you need to revert back if the need arises.
