not a joke topic, sadly. will MNK's B-something staff skill outdamage their h2h?

For reference, this is one of the best (if not the best) Staff for MNKs IMO.

Don't buy one until I do, stupid things never go up on AH...
Can a fully geared monk please post on here what their attack is with destroyers on (full gear, no buffs) and what their attack is with a staff on (capped staff skill)?
Found a monk on my server near staff cap - we concluded that a properly geared/merited Staff Monk would have slightly higher attack and accuracy than a properly geared/merited h2h monk.
...That's crazy. Primate Staff+1 with pamanas is a DPS of 12.98 (and crit+7%, +12 acc)- although I don't remember what the 75mnk with destroyers DPS comes out to be. Of course, h2h weapon skills are much better than staff WS...right?
My mnk has capped staff............... and 4 staff merits i haven't deleted yet <.<
one thing to remember is that if you're stuffing down pamamas, you can't be eating whatever food you might otherwise be eating. still, that may be worth it. please cue comments about merc pole mnk/drks now.Originally Posted by archibaldcrane

I sincerely, sincerely doubt that it is. With Staff you are using, I think, Full Swing, which, I think, is significantly weaker than Asuran Fists (and other now buffed MNK WSs). All that so you can use Staff with maybe 10 acc/10 atk advantage max over h2h, and you can't eat real food in order to get the DPS/acc buff on Primate Staff.Originally Posted by Judai
But I still want to see what it can do.
I don't see why with the new ACC changes someone should have to eat Pamamas. Just eat atk food?
removing 80 delay (and 90 delay on NQ) i think is a pretty good reason to eat the pamamasOriginally Posted by Jyakku
80 delay is the equivalent to how much haste?
full swing is too weak on 100TP, try retribution much stronger @100TP.
I was playing outside with lesser collibri and the my 1st retribution did 1,3k with 80+57 STR.
my MNK has cappped staff, i'm gonna test it out in exp pt when i have the chance.
I know everyone's bitching about how absurd the 2H boosts are, but honestly, I was always frustrated that they designed DD-based staves for MNK but *no one* in their right mind used them since H2H was just that much better. Now I'll get to see what I want.
Well, *actually,* what I want is a WS exclusive to monks (in the same way Hexa is exclusive to WHMs) where the monk uses the staff in a fashion similar to a pole vault. The monk sticks the pole to the ground, lifts their body while their hands are held to the staff, and do some sort of amazing jump/spinning/roundhouse kick to the enemy. That's just one of many possibilities, really. Real-life martial artists who use staves can do some really sick stuff, and a MNK holding a staff ought to do some of that aforementioned stuff.

80/399=0,20 so 20% delay reduction on that weapon.Originally Posted by Jyakku

so has anyone gone and done some tests yet?
I'm hoping to get the DA polegrip and then going MNK/DRG. I thought about wanting to try a KRT staff mnk party, but it will be hard to find other MNKs with capped staff.
I just tested MNK/SAM using staff in exp, it was hella fun though it's kinda an MP sponge :D
with 1 BRD, I'm doing 700-800s retribution easily @100TP to mamools, highest i've done was 1,5k retribution @200TP and DA'd.
So could we actually be looking at (depending on how the "known issue" gets fixed) a new alternative for MNKs to fight HNMs? Not just talking about 300% SA Fullswing crap; they could plain out melee with a staff on higher level, higher defense mobs and potential crank out nice-ish WS, not to mention they'll still have the subtle blow and sweet haste gear they've always had.
Granted some better staves might help, but kinkobo/primate isn't that terrible. Would be interested to hear about staff mnk now on HNM if anyone tries.
