    Abbreviated Names

Should everything be ok and my brain not die on me, I'll be starting work in the not-so-distant future of manually renaming abbreviated items. So for now, stick with the whole [[Itm. Nm.|Item Name]] format for now, but it'll be worked on. If you really hate the idea, you CAN just make Redirect pages.

This might be opening a floodgate, but simply put, you can just go the full name of the page (ie Item Name instead of Itm. Nm.) and put the following in as the page: #REDIRECT: [[Itm. Nm.]]

A real world example that comes to mind was Shura Zunari Kabuto. That doesn't link well, as the game (and therefore wiki) has it abbreviated to Shr.Znr.Kabuto. Shura Zunari Kabuto on the wiki is simply: #REDIRECT: [[Shr.Znr.Kabuto]]

    I think that makes sense.

Ideally, you want to avoid redirects as much as possible, as they can become unused, and just start eating up space they don't need to, but its an option.

    Re: Abbreviated Names

Something worth thinking about, at least.

As of right now, any search for an item by its full name will come up at least in the search selection due to the fact that the log name was carried over from the db dump. It might be worth fixing. Although I hate to be the people not looking forward to having to redirect all their links as well.

    Re: Abbreviated Names

in keeping with my preference for users not needing to see search pages except when absolutely necessary, I think it is a-ok to make redirect pages for full item names. (use common names when possible)

"an imperial gold piece" is probably not a necessary page, but
"Imperial goldpiece" would be very useful.
