I would generally agree except their interviews are generally 100% kid gloves. They don't call guests on bullshit like 'most people would agree that <insert liberal nonsense here>...' Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the 60 minutes 'trap door' style of interview journalism. Radio interviewers are generally just not demanding enough of their subjects. This is true of most talk radio though so I can't exclusively fault NPR for doing it.
I dunno...I haven't listened in a while (used to every day--my schedule's changed), but Diane Rehm would grill her guests pretty hard if they were skirting issues. A lot of people can't get past the way her voice wavers, but hers was easily my favorite show when I used to listen.
