I got this from a GM I just spoke to in reference to a stolen character that was transferred to Phoenix. Apparently you don't have to have your reg codes!

Forgot my password one time, right before WoTG release I kinda freaked, called POL didn't have reg. codes, but had everything else.
Wasn't an issue at all.
Already knew about this. Guess what the way they use to verify its your account.... It starts with credit.
You need the current credit card information to recover a character.
Or, in laymans terms:![]()
I've had to call before to get a new POL password and when I was asked to verify finally I was no longer home and didn't have the book of codes with me. When I told the person helping me that, he said that I could keep verifying it with only the Name, Address and CC info as long as it was not verified with the codes. Once you use the codes to verify, they will ask you every other time thereafter.
Hm, sounds good.
Might be hope for those who have had their account compromised
its nice they aren't nazi now and don't ask for reg codes. Hell, who can hold on to a piece of paper for 4+ years... I mean, I still got mine () but yeah
No you don't, I fed it to your hamster. =3Originally Posted by Zigma

Quite frankly, I'm under the impression that nobody at Square actually knows their policy, and engages in guesswork anytime they pick up the phone.
When resetting my information I was told that they could reset it, however, that if anyone ever did call up with the actual reg. codes I would be sol.
I find that interesting since they seemed to be implying reg codes identified the real owner, and that's obviously not the case with the current wave of hacked accounts.

This has been their policy for a while now. I had to nuke an XBL account for my second account, which I don't and never will have the reg codes for, and they did it with just the payment info. However, they also said that they'd flag my account and if I ever needed something again I'd need the reg codes.
I keep them in my PS2 case for the game, where the codes were originally located, since I play on PS2. However, I have to call the JP support center, and I've never had my Japanese at a level to handle business like this. You also don't want to lose the code anyway, since you need it to activate a new ID if you ever want to make another character. I can't remember if you need it to deactivate a character, but I know I needed it to create my mules, and reactivate my account after I suspended it for two months when I was trying to recover financially from being unemployed.Originally Posted by Zigma
I had to reset my password once (changed it to allow a friend access to the account, but couldn't remember what I changed it to), and didn't have my codes with me; the person at their help center told me that you're allowed one account modification/verification/whatever without codes, and after that they're required.
Just tossing my hat in for information given by SE, that GM seemed to be skimming though and wasn't reading through the real situation (accounts that get hacked are inevitably going to have different CC numbers or addresses or such, duh!)...
Well, I have reg codes, but I hope to God I'll never have to use them, because I'm not sure they're mine. My ex-boyfriend and I had identical FFXI boxes, bought the game only a few months apart when we were still seeing each other. I'm not 100% sure I grabbed the right box when we went our separate ways. I'll bet anything he does not still have that box, and after moving countries and changing my phone # and e-mail address, there's no fucking way in hell I'll ever get in contact with him again.
Not sure if you would consider your POL ID the same as your password. With SE they will not give me my POL ID without your Reg Codes.
I will always have my POL ID written in like 10 places in my apartment now, haha.
It seems like they could look up your CC payment history with that character and tell that it is your character and give you a little bit of help but every person I talked to was a complete asshat.
I'm not exactly sure when they changed it, but you don't need the reg code to create new mules anymore. Pretty handy as I don't have the codes for my alt anymore but I can finally create a mule or two on the account.Originally Posted by bungiefan
