    weapon (axe/sword/dagger) skill points

    I am looking for information on exactly how weapon skill points factor into accuracy and damage calculations.

    i.e.
    how much attack or accuracy does +1 axe skill point effectivly give?

    I have seen many discussions on attribute gear vs. attack/accuracy gear (2 STR=1 attack), but I havn't found anything that specifically says what putting a merit into a weapon or wearing a sea torque does.

    I don't have a sea torque yet, but I am curious how the +7 weapon skill will stack up against other neck options. Are they worth getting or is (PCC/Sea gorget) combo better?


    Did I seach? Yes, I tried many seaches, but "skill" and "weapon" get too many cross references.
    Advanced enough? Not really sure, but I doubt I would get a good answer in the noob section.

    Do believe it's 1ATK/1ACC 1-200 and .9 per 201+.
    Also, newbie section is great for these kinds of questions.
    You really should look at the threads there, that section is pretty awesome actually.

    It's all over the place, but here's the short of it:

    Up to 200 skill, 1 point of skill equals 1 point of accuracy and attack. Post-200 skill it equals 0.9 points of accuracy and attack. Unless you're dual-wielding two different weapon types, sea torques are the best neck you can use. Sea gorgets are generally the best neck piece for 1-hit weapon skills, but torques will win out on multi-hit weapon skills.

    I won't flame you, just a suggestion to check the various wiki's for information on topics like this. It can be really interesting to kill time by learning the various mechanics (especially about jobs you don't play).

    Doesn't skill effect the damage vs mobs weaken to the type of damage you're weapon does? I remember reading something like this a while back not sure how true it is.

    You'd get the same accurate answers in the Newbie Section as you would in this section. People who check this forum often check all FFXI, including the Newbie section. It's not just reserved for newbies to post and respond. Veterans often go there to answer questions and ask newb questions themselves. And Newb section is usually flame free. Unless Ryko is responding

    1 skill will always give 1 attack, only acc drops to 0.9 per point after 200.

    I know it does that also but I heard it had a more significant effect on monster than attack that are weak to your weapons type.

    Good old Wiki.

    Did searches there on "weapon skills", "Axe Skill". I get lots of pages of level caps, ect. but nothing linked to the accuracy. I guess I was going about the searching backwards.

    Anyway, I got the answers I needed. Thank you!

    This thread can now be deleted, so nobody gets offended by the 5 seconds they waste by clicking on it, forcing them to spend 10 minutes writing responses about how they wasted 5 seconds.

    Newb section needs a name change or something, people can't seem to convince themselves that just because they don't know something doesn't mean it's not a noob question.

    Like people said, don't be afraid of it, you can ask all your questions that you're just not sure about but are something people would long ago have figured out there and get good answers.


    Should be called the "Basic Forum" or the "random question forum" or some crap.

    I was thinking this for awhile, Newbie actually many times has the best info with the least amount of crap to sift through, it probably deserves a name change.

    At the same time, Advanced could probably stand to be changed to 'LS Drama/Flamewars/QQing b/c Someone I Gave My Account Info To Stole My Shit/Is FFXI Dying?'
