OMG HALP! laptop won't connect Q_Q

my laptop finally arrived, i took the day off work and installed WoW. after literally all night, it's finally installed with all patches.

problem - i can't get the laptop to display on my 37" monitor. i hooked up a VGA cable to the laptop and the only hookup i could find on the monitor, and nothin.

do i need to enable something on my laptop to make it work?

EDIT: i got the monitor working, but i have no sound. what do i do to get sound through the TV? fricking technology =P

sound doesn't trasmit over video cables You'll need to run a cord from the computer (probably the headphone jack if its a laptop) to an input on the TV.

ok that sucks. so i need to go buy yet another cable >.> what do i need to get?

Most likely you need to get a 1/8" stereo plug to stereo RCA jack cable, or "Y-splitter" as some places might call it. It's got a headphone jack on one end, and two RCA jacks (usually red/white) on the other. Pretty common cable.

omg that sucks balls... so i'm stuck playing WoW with absolutely no sound for the first time ever until i get to best buy or something...

is there any way to route the sound through the laptop speakers for the time being with the external monitor running? i seem to have no sound anywhere.

did you ever have sound previously? this sounds like a different problem....possibly driver related. The sound should still play through the laptop if all you've done is hooked up a vga cable.
