Elemental Purpose?

Just wondering if the elements in brawl have any sort of extra effect?

Only ones I could think off the top of my head:

Fire: More damage overall.

Thunder: Stun + Dmg

Poison (Olimar): DoT?

I always thought:

Fire: More damage
Ice: Chance to freeze
Lightning: Stuns
Darkness: Sends opponent further

And added to Brawl:

Water: Stops momentum, pushes enemies away (FLUDD, Water Gun)
Poison: Deals great damage when poisonous parts are touched, otherwise little? Olimar is the only one with a "poison" element so I don't know.

If you face east(the wind element) there's a 2.5% attack speed increase. We parsed it.
Also, when you get fire items, it counts as +fire gear so your STR goes up

Falcon punch seems fire while gannondorfs seems darkness

What about that blue fire Lucario does? Does that count as darkness?

Aura? Darkness stickers in the game only work on Ganondorf from what I've seen.

Alot of his moves leave a blueish fire/darkness looking thing on enemies. Most of his attacks do it and I don't know what area it goes under.

It could count as just "energy" I guess, like Lucas, Fox/Falco's guns and Samus' charged shot?

Lucario's attacks are definitely Aura, there's a Lucario only sticker with (Aura) Attack+25.

Edit: And for the record, Olimar's poison pikmin are only good for 2 things; Pikmin throw and grab attacks, they're worse than every other kind for everything else.
