Smithing post update

Ok, so I was patiently leveling smithing and got to 96.0 prior to the update that raised the roof on adaman ingots. Now, I am stuck.

Anyone else stuck in the same area using some "rare" recipe to skill up still? I refuse to pay 150k an ingot for an item that sells for 50k.

But I just bought a stack of adaman sheets for 600k with ingots going for 195/each (Don't ask me why, prob cause I went 2/4 Aristocrats the other day <_<) ... it'll come out to a small loss per synth but whatever, I'm happy.

I'm stuck as well just got my mule to 83+2 and was planning to go all the way to 90 on ingots since they are always break even/tiny profit. Give it a month or so and I'm sure they will be back to normal.

1 month, maybe less, all will be right in the world, my best advice would be to be patient don't just throw your gil away in this economy.

Welcome to skilling clothcraft... 400k mats for an item that sells for 100-150k. Probably why you see alot of 99 CC.

99 to 100 CC aside, smithing is in general much more expensive than clothcraft across most levels. (the start of silk road in the early sixties is one big exception, unless the smither goes darksteel bolts > nodowa route)

at 195k/ingot (which is what op's server is at) just doing adaman sheets in the 80's is going to cost you 2,340,000 (2.3 million) for an item that (historically) sells for about 350k. at 12 synths per stack that's an estimated 6million gil loss per level. (and if you followed the 'popular' roads, this is not the first time you're looking at multiple millions of gil lost)

at 400>100 you're looking at 10.8 million gil loss per level, but you're also at 99 and not at 81. the common level 80s items in cc are either sub 10k per synth or breakeven/small profit.

Smithing was the same way before imperial wootz. Now you can get to 99 with a Profit synth. I was spending 380-400k per adaman ingot making Adaman Gear til 100. Not 1 single Gem Though, signed every piece i made.

I am 96.3 and its just slowly going up cuz im also refusing pay so much on ingots so i been doing Relic Iron X2 fire crystal until 97 than after that i'll prolly go with making Wootz ingots (55kish a synth on alexander) until 99

What i did was just farmed my adaman nuggets from those things you trade chips too. The ones you need password to access. I did the one in Crawler's nest and yielded a huge amount of Nuggets and actually made alot of gil doing so. It helped me make adaman ingots to make for future higher lvl synths to cap off at 100.

Anyway its just a tip. Might take a little time to do so, but it is well worth the effort and saves a shitton of gil especially at the current prices.

well what i was doing for awhile to skill up was making imp wootz ingots for my ls mates that do salvage, only broke 3 from alot. other than that there's nothing else right now. oh i forgot to mention i'm stuck on 96 too.
