Crazy non-west people making threads about silly earthquakes!
They keep talking about this earthquake on the news. It happened at like 4am(?), I didn't feel a thing, and considering nothing really happened (I mean, there was no lasting effects of the quake. The ground just shook...big deal), they need to stop talking about this on the news as if it's a big deal.
Can't wait until a freak Tornado hits Oakland or San Fran.Originally Posted by geno

We get bad tornados through most of the summer and early part of fall here, but quakes basically never happen in the mid-west. i just thought it was interesting
didnt feel the 1 at 4am... 15min ago my house shook a very tiny bit.. like a large man jumping off a couch. tho i didnt know wtf it was since this is the 1st im hearing of it lol
It was interesting to me too, at first, but now it's getting annoying. They're talking about it over and over on the news. The ground shook, then everything went back to normal as if nothing ever even happened. This isn't something you spend 90% of the morning talking about on the news. It's something you mention twice per hour or so.
People who were way too far from the earthquake to feel anything significant anyways keep calling into the news like 'OMG MY BODY MOVED OMG OMG I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A SUCH THING AS MOVEMENT OMG"
On one of the radio stations in my area they said it caused some river to flow backwards for a short period of time and it flooded some areas.
Probably bullshit since I can't seem to find any of that info online.
Obvious signs that the end is upon us, obviously.
lolEarthquakes in the MidWest.

Edit: This is SoCal for ppl that aren't familiar with the town names.
It was interesting! I was up talkin to a friend in Australia at the time, told her I thought it was a tornado (We are used to those) But when I opened my windows and everything was calm I had a bunch of ???'s over my head.
Its a pretty big deal if ya were up at the time and felt it. I am havin my foundation looked at in my house, it wasnt some minor move and then it was done. It felt like my house was in this big ass hammock swaying back and forth. Or that feeling you get when you are on a cruise ship. We aint used to that type of shit around here, and its the biggest in like 40 years or something? So yeah I can see why the news all over it. 4-5 seconds my ass, it was minor movement but it was sure longer than 4-5 seconds.
Go Cubs Go!
the one in the late morning was only 4-5 seconds is what he meant I'm sure.
i honestly had no clue what was going on when the early morning one happened, just kinda assumed it was the house settling very roughly ;x I know it doesn't make any sense, but it was 4am man, everything makes sense at that time of day
Happened about 4:30am my time. I live in Western Kentucky (about a block away from the guy who posted above me). Right where Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois all meet. It shook the shit out of my house, woke my fiancee and I out of bed. It lasted, I'd say, about 45 seconds. I mean, it wasn't real bad compared to Cali earthquake standards, it didn't knock off the glass from the night stand and all my pictures were still on the wall. Still kinda crazy, because we don't get measurable earthquakes too often, despite almost being right ontop of a fault line. Still a funny feeling when your asleep in bed and you are awakened by movement.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but anything under 3 is not even worth mentioning, since you cant even feel it.Originally Posted by Koga

Boo I didn't feel anything![]()
lol, GLOBAL WARMING, PLANET X IS COMING.
>.<
I slept through it as well.
I think some of the quotes from people that were shown on the news were interesting though.
"My bed started to rock and I didn't know what to do!" =O
That's what she said.Originally Posted by viperlasson
