I really liked it, very light-hearted, didn't try to make it overly serious.

Ok movie. The first fight between Chan and Li is the best fight in the whole movie(IMHO). Young Asian ladies were fucks. Would have probably enjoyed the movie more if I understood what some of the Chinamen were saying. Close Caption/subtitles, yes please.\

I enjoyed it, didn't like the main white guy much, but was great otherwise.

I was a little irked when I saw that it was a 'dream', but I got over it, and I <3'd the movie.

    Re: The Forbidden Kingdom

I expected it to be every bit just like Neverending Story and all the other movies where the kid 'goes' to his fantasy land and comes back to fight the bullies... except it was much better just because of Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Dunno, my girlfriend and I enjoyed it... especially the part where he was praying for rain. I was cheering my ass off at the end, though, pretty expected but good ending.

I don't think it was a dream, though, if it was then all the people he saw would have been represented somehow at the end like in Wizard of Oz or Pagemaster. Anyways, I give it an 8/10 because it was a good flick but sometimes it was hilariously cheesy.

I love how they played off of the white kid though... "Uh, he's not even Chinese..." and then they spend about 3-4 minutes laughing at him. Awesome stuff.

It was a lot more entertaining than I expected it to be, and yes, the rain prayer was awesome.

Forbidden Kingdom sucked out loud. I want my $8 back.

Forbidden Kingdom Minus Dorky White Kid And Everything Involving Him was an awesome movie.

Seriously... lose the Last Action Hero shit and you have a quality kung fu movie. Awesome villains, awesome fight scenes, awesome costumes, hot asians, Jet Li pissing on Jackie Chan... win.

    Re: The Forbidden Kingdom

I'd say it was worth the $8. As said, it's a light and fun-filled story. The action and pace carries you through fairly quickly, and the movie will seem shorter than it looks. They did a good job with keeping true to the theme. There were definitely some unexpected scenes and you won't find an in-depth romance development like Steven Seagal hitting on Asians in his music videos.

    Re: The Forbidden Kingdom

I don't know how you guys can praise this movie, it was honestly one of the worst kung-fu movies I have ever seen. The entire movie was sold and advertised under the premise that Jackie Chan and Jet Li were finally going to fight each other and kick some ass together, and instead I get a completely butchered americanized rip-off of "Journey to the West" set in La-La land. The plot was completely predictable and the dialogue was so ridiculous I thought I was watching Mortal Combat midway through. Although the fight scenes are decent, and the humor was done really well, its overshadowed by the horrible plot and text. In the end you're paying $8 for a 10 minute fight scene between Jackie Chan and Jet Li, which should have been about 20-30% of the movie the way it was advertised.

    Re: The Forbidden Kingdom

What were you expecting when this guy is directing?

I saw the trailer and knew right away hollywood did a stand-up job at fucking up the easiest kung-fu script you can possibly make with 2 of the best martial artists in the bizz. They just had to turn it into a popcorn flick with some no-name bullshit teen actor. It might do decent here, but its going to bomb worldwide lol

Plenty of great Chan and Li movies you can see on dvd/vhs that probably will cost less than $8.

You couldn't have expected much when the kid was thrown in there. Having him in there changes the whole theme and atmosphere.

    This movie was really cool.

When I got home it inspired me to finish capping staff and retribution for MNK in honor of the crazy monkey dude that whoops ass with his magical staff. 8)

    Re: The Forbidden Kingdom

enjoyed it alot. for a pg13 movie i expected the fights to be craptacular but .. it was pretty well done. i like the opening credits payed homage to alot of old school martial art films.

yes it was a typical plot but really sometimes that simple is good. i did not expect the movie to have that much fights in it so i was pleasantly surprised, that they were well done.

all i can say is this about the movie.

totally random and unexplained third person dialogue.

was that some kind of reference to some old kung fu movie?
