ok so lets get this clear first. yes i am a dumbass for attempting to do this by myself for the first time and not knowing what all to do.... but im so confused.....

and i got everything installed correctly to my knowledge nothing is screaming plug me in pretty much.... anyways whenever i update the drivers on my video card its like nupe dont wanna work and blue screens me.... sometimes when i update stuff it blue screens.... my friend thinks either my video card is doa or i fried it some how.... but im not sure really also when i run pol (non windower) i get this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...503/gritty.jpg i dont know what to do and im really confused..... im pretty sure its my video card but it could also be my mother board as people have had alot of problems with it as well..... so im not sure someone help me Q_Q;;

I notice you bought no cooling with that batch of components, what did you put in there? Stock cooling? If so, check temps and fan speeds.

That screenshot you posted looks like a problem I used to get when I first built my box. Make sure that the drivers that came with all of your components are installed, including all of the random shit that came with your motherboard. If I remember correctly, my problem was fixed when I either reinstalled my video card drivers, or when I installed the chipset drivers (that I had forgotten in the first place).

The other option is, like Shuemue suggested, overheating. I don't see a case for those parts, nor do I see a cooling system, so I'm just going to assume you're using a throwaway case with stock cooling on your components, and that's usually not enough for high-performance components, especially if you're fucking around with clock speeds.

i have a antec 900 case with like 4 fans i doubt its over heating as im getting chills just by being next to my computer....

if i remember right it said irlq equal or less or something like that it hasnt given me it in awhile. ive been having troubles finding an older driver for my video card :< maybe im just dumb D:

If the heatsink is NOT installed properly, it's NOT going to be pulling ANY heat away from the cpu, therefor cold air will ALWAYS come out of the computer. Warm air coming out of computer = good, that means somethings working right. Unless of course it's unusually warm.

Just uninstall the drivers you currently have, and install the drivers that came with the card.

Every component that needs drivers comes with them, on CDs, in the same boxes as the component came in. Your motherboard should have a CD with Chipset drivers. Install them. Your gfx card should have a CD with video drivers. Install them. Then, with those drivers installed, see if everything works.

General rule of thumb for drivers is: if you don't have a problem, don't change them. Updating drivers tends to cause just as many problems as they fix, so if you don't have to go to the newer one, don't.

ok installed the drivers with the cd that came with the graphics card and it looks fine :D but now i remember why i was trying to update them because i can only get a maximum of 1024x768 pixels >_<;; any ideas on this one? lol

You usually have to restart after a fresh driver install to get all of the display resolutions.

Have you installed the .inf file for your monitor? Maybe the setting for "Default Monitor" wont allow anything above 1024x768. Try to find the .inf file for yours if you don't have one.

That might be the issue. The native/max res on your 16" might be 1024, so it won't show anything higher in the list. On the Display Properties screen, Settings tab, click Advanced, and go to the Monitor tab. If the box for "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" is checked, uncheck it, hit ok, and then take a look at the list of supported display modes. It should list all of the possible resolutions for the video card, which, with that card, should be a ton.
