    Black Borders monitor?

Well i've recently updated my ATI Radeon x1400 graphics card to OmegaDriver thing to be able to play Counter strike source. HOwever last night when I ran source it gave me a a weird device9 glitch and crashed. When it did there became black boards on the left and right side of my monitors. I can't use any setting but 1024 x 640 otherwise it becomes black on left and right or top and bottom or both. Anyone know how to fix this error?

    I'm running a Dell Inspiron E1705 ( I think) And I'm 99% sure its LCD display ;3

LCDs are a fixed pixel dimension. For example, a 17" LCD is usually a fixed 1280x1024 pixels, referred to as its "native resolution". Anything other than an LCDs native resolution can be displayed in one of two ways:

    - It can be scaled (in hardware) to fit. Generally this means pixel doubling and things, and tends to not look as sharp as the actual native resolution.

    - It can simple be displayed in the appropriate amount of pixels, with the rest not being used. This results in black borders around the picture that is displayed.

(apologies if this is stuff you already knew)

What it sounds like to me is that your laptop's LCD scaling got turned off, or otherwise screwed up. For many laptops, this can be toggled in the BIOS. Dell usually is F2 at startup to enter that.

Some video drivers also have an option to scale video in the driver, or to let it be done by the LCD hardware. So that may be something to check as well.

I believe that the scaling came off when I installed a new driver. I changed it to 1440 x 900 it seems to be a temp fix at the very least. however the driver installation is pointless because CS: Source still crashes on me D:

The exact glitch it gives is Internal Driver error in IDirect3DDevice9:resent()
