Keep it clean this time. Unless the other topic was closed for other reasons (other then the fact the topic was being derailed), and mods feel the need to close this one, go right ahead.

Just posting my findings.

With all my enhancing gear (enhance @ 299 skill, no merits), i can confirm at merit #4 on phalanx2, phalanx DOES overwrite phalanx 2.

With no enhancing gear, phalanx and phalanx 2 overwrite each other.

Assuming the known equations hold true, these are the expected values for Phalanx II testing compared to Phalanx I. Phalanx II is listed for each level seperated by commas.

320 skill (current rdm cap gear+merits that i'm aware of)
Phalanx 30 damage
Phalanx II 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 damage

310-319 skill
Phalanx 29 damage
Phalanx II 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 damage

300-309 skill
Phalanx 28 damage
Phalanx II 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 damage

Phalanx 1 remove 1 point for every range of 10
Phalanx II remove 1 point for every range of 25

256 skill
Phalanx 23 damage
Phalanx II 14, 17, 20, 23, 26 damage

==Summary==
Skill 299 or less :: Phalanx II lvl5 provides more protection
Skill 3000 - 309 :: Equal strength, but Phalanx II lvl5 lasts longer
Skill 310 or higher :: Phalanx I provides more protection

floor(Enhancing Skill/25) + 1 + 3 * merit level, Phalanx II will only overwrite itself if the version you cast is equal to or stronger than the version that is currently on the target.
