    "No Signal?"

    Hello,

I have been having this problem where I would try and turn on my computer and it would not turn on. I would hit my power button, turn on my monitor only for my monitor to tell me "No Signal" then go into standby mode. My Wireless Receiver would also not light up.

I would usually remedy this situation by hitting reset a couple times until my screen loaded, or just turning my computer off then on again from the console. This doesn't happen all of the time and is more of an annoyance then anything, but my computer is relatively (<6months) new and shouldn't have anything wrong with it.

Thank You in advance for any help.

    Tommy

PCs will do this when there's a piece of hardware in them that's failing. I had a hard drive do this to my PC. My guess is BIOS is trying to do its thing and is unable to, so it just never boots up.

Have you noticed any of your drives making weird noises? Just for the hell of it, unplug your drives and then boot up. It won't do anything but show you the post screen, but that's better than nothing and will start to narrow down where the problem is coming from. If that doesn't work, try yanking out all the cards from the motherboard (except the graphics card) and go from there. Put them in one at a time until the problem comes back. The last card you put in is the one that is causing the problem.

Also check to make sure all your fans are working, especially the one on the CPU. If the CPU fan isn't working the PC probably won't boot because the chip would overheat and go up in smoke, so it's just protecting itself by not booting,

Before we go flying all over the place, let's establish one thing:

When you turn your computer on, shortly after it first powers up you should hear a near incomprehensible single-tone 'beep'; if you hear this, your hardware is fine, and the problem is more likely suited somewhere with your monitor and its cables.

If you don't hear the tone, or if you hear more than one tone, then by all means carry on with fhq's suggestions (and if it is more than one tone, make note of what it sounds like and try to describe it to us; it will help narrow down the problem).
