Kaspersky and POL

anyway, Kaspersky is saying POL viewer is giving off signs of being a keylogger. This baffles me as I keep my pc very secure and immunized.

I'm scanning everything right now and nothing has come up yet but this is the first time it's ever happened to me and I'm a bit shocked.

This happen to anyone else? I'm using Kaspersky 2009

I was hoping someone would at the very least substantiate my thoughts that it's a false positive, as google results turn up other people wondering the same thing.

pretty much anything that reads computer input, games, guis, etc can be interpereted as a keylogger..

Is this when POL is running? Are you using windower? Anything like mog toolz to mess with the registry?

windower yes, external mods, no, but I thumbed through the windower forums and found someone who had the exact same notice on the exact same antivirus, who also was clean according to his pc, so I'm pretty confident it's a false positive

Problem might be the new Soft-Keyboard being detected as Keylogger.
My AV detected Keyloggers in 2 Free MMORPGs I play during windows, and both had a Soft-Keyboard with them. Was def. false alert... but... just reminds me.

For what it's worth I run Kaspersky on both my pcs and it doesn't flag pol as a keylogger. Then again, I don't use windower, so ymmv.

I recently updated to Kaspersky 2009 and I also get the POL keylogger message when I read the security reports. I don't use windower so I don't think it's anything to do with that. I'm inclined to think it's a false positive, maybe something to do with the soft-keyboard as Velocy suggested.

it could have something to do with the fact that POL gets your entire process list (if not other things) every time it launches and exits. I'm sure it's a false positive (in that POL isn't *actually* a keylogger) but POL itself definitely falls under the category of spyware/malware.

Kaspersky is fucking retarded. It got installed on all workstations at work and now every time I debug something in Visual Studio it goes "oh shit, there's a trojan running on your computer QUARANTINE".

do you use windower?

I only got issue when I use the windower launcher. As a results, my laptop that use the p4 single core will took about 5-10mins on the pol login screen. But my other pc that use duo core won't have this "freezing" problem.

Yeah, I do, it doesn't fuck up my game or anything, it just scares you for no good reason.

Kaspersky 2009 IS in beta after all, I reported it to 'em.

It is a false positive, Kaspersky 2009 introduced Whitelisting, so basically every program the company hasn't cleared to run is considered a bad file.

Whitelisting is something you're going to be seeing a lot more of, cause these virus companies cannot keep up with all the new viruses being created daily.
