Manaburn Salvage?

I think I already know the answer, but I'm checking anyway. Can anyone think of feasable runs/targets in salvage with only mages? Everyone got RLed for some reason or another and we're left with no tanks but a bunch of mages for a run.

Is there anything that could work? We still have a THF available to us, any stratagies for those abundant in BRD, BLM, RDM, SCH?

I always thought this would be fun to try lol The main problem would be killing mobs before everyone had prae cells, it might be pretty slow going in Arra and Silv. Maybe start off by meleeing everything first, then switch to manaburn when everyone has magic unlocked (have the THF /BRD? lol) BLMx4 RDM THF, give first incus to THF and then pass out the rest in the order of people who have capped combat skills for their respective weapons for the start, I guess.

Well then give RDM the second incus. No joyuse RDM though. One of our BRDs does have though, hmmm.... I guess just for ballad a BRD isn't worth sacrificing a BLM is it?

I think you can manaburn the Bhaflau boss with rdm brd blm. Never tried but.. if you go to boss floor east path ( and kill chariot), it supposedly gives it auto gravity. I know it already looses aggro easilly with 12% speed, so with auto-gravity it must be easy to have a rdm/nin dot and kite it around the teleporters, and BLM nuke > run away and loose aggro.

Adding on: I think we're gonna go with a group of BLMx3, SCH, RDM, THF. Gonna try to target Arrapago QQs with a stop @ Big Bhoot. Any good ideas for the trying to quick-clear the 6th floor so we get the last 2 QQs?

You could do zhayolm frogs or arrapago NMs as manaburn. Solo/duo strategies for arrapago are in this forum somewhere. It would be the same strategy, only hunt a few more lamia for magic and expect less time on the NMs.

I remember right when Salvage came out we used to manaburn LBC with 3 BLM, RDM, 2 melee. This was prior to having the opening box though. You could certain do it w/o the melees now.

Actually, I haven't finished blogging the post yet, but I solo'd the entire Bhalfau zone (killing LBC) with just my BLM a few days ago. You can certainly manaburn it.

Probably have to rephrase - it's more like just getting a 'technical' zone clear with a title. So no ramparts just LBC itself. It's not exactly a super useful solo since you can't 'farm' 35s.

Ran Arrapago tonight with BLM BLM BLM RDM THF SCH and BLM on their own. Overall the first floor went SSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLOWWWWWWWWWWWW. Maybe as we tried it a few times we could speed it up, but not really much just trying to kill those lamia.

We got 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor QQs killed, with a lot of death though. Probably not gonna try it again and just suck it up with some really weird tanks. For anyone trying target lamia only on 1st, don't bother with pretty much anything not in your way. Get your magic and go.






On the Plus side. 3rd Floor dropped our first Macha's coat. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOgettin so poor.

I wouldn't call it a complete failure. It might be workable, and probably smoother for other zones. Also having stronger people I was the only career BLM, others were usually BRD or THF so their BLMs weren't full meritted. Oh and the THF was only 70.


So yea, interesting, probably won't try it again but TOTALLY WORTH IT WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

ok just for your interest, killing East chariot doesn't give the boss auto gravity! just tried.

Btw east side path in bhaflau, even with killing the chariot => no auto-gravity and boss is still immune to gravity. I tried for fun and did 30% (only !) in 45 minutes with bio2 and poison2 on rdm/nin. With def food it hits for ~130 only.

What do you consider weird tanks? 'Cause I'm pretty sure a bst/nin could tank salvage fine...mnks in salvage are more overrated than well, anything else I've come across in this game.

We woulda been WAR and DRG for tanks. Maybe a THF too (yes there's another thread on this)

It makes me cry that this is considered a "weird tank". War + War, War + Sam, or War + Drg are the only tank setups my group even uses.

Gonna check that out too. My very first group pre-starter chest used to just farm magic/sub/hp/mp and go up to try LBC as 1x mnk/nin(for the start mobs), 4x blm/nin, rdm/nin, brd/whm lol, only ever won once.

Wow. nice kaeko. I've always fought LAC in the same fashion you do for kiting during brainjack and thought, "I could totally solo this but it would take forever."
