Ventrilo question

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. A friend of mine that plays FFXI also plays with a cousin of his at the same house, he plays on PC and she plays on PS2 and we all want to be able to talk to each other using vent. Aside from getting them getting a microphone and having them talk on vent that way, is there a way for them to use one PC and two headsets to talk on vent?

I think you can run two instances of ventrilo, and each have them setup a different bind key. Would require a computer you could jack two mics in, and a mobo / soundcard / software that support splitting of the mics - ventrilo supports different input lines, so theoretically (if all was set up right) you could have one instance use Mic1, and the other instance use Mic2.

Well one headset uses a USB port and another headset uses the mic plug in the back of the PC. Is this just a matter of configuring the setting in vent itself then?

Yes and no, you also need a motherboard / soundcard combo that will accept both of those inputs as separate instead of one input. For example, my mobo (although the sound settings / drivers are all screwy) will let you use stereo as an input (i.e. what you hear is what you play), a mic you plug in as an input (you can plug any type into any jack, so up to six mics) and have them all set to a different input... Your mileage may vary depending on what you have.
