    Issues dual-boxing with windower

    I asked on the windower.net forums, too, but that lead nowhere. I'm having issues dual-boxing mine and my wife's accounts on my laptop. Here are basic stats of my PC.

    Alienware Area51 770m
    Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00GHz HT
    2.75gb pc4300 DDR2 RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 256MB
    60gb Drive (OS and Program files - FFXI & Windower 3.4 installed here)
    150gb Drive (Data and misc crap here - could run a virtual machine installed here if needed)
    Running Windower3.4
    Tried booting second one in windowerlite as well as windower3.4

    Here is my launcher.ini:
    #Windower Console Key
    console-key = insert

    #PlayOnlineViewer Language (JP, US, or EU)
    language = US

    #Final Fantasy XI window resolution
    x-resolution = 1600
    y-resolution = 1024

    I run my lappy @ 1920x1200, so they're not trying to run full screen.

    Usually, I boot all the way into my character, then as I'm trying to bring up my wife's, I can usually get to around the character select screen when the first instance locks up, and can't do anything in the second or first until I end-task on one, then the other stops dc'ing and goes back to normal. I recently added 2gb of RAM to my lappy, and it did exactly this before and after the RAM install.

    I've tried it with loading all my normal plugins (recast, distance, tparty, cancel, spellcast, yarnball, plasticsurgeon) and loading none of them... no change.

    I've also tried loading them both at 800x600 resolution, still the same happens. I've even tried moving one pol.exe process to processor 1 and the other pol.exe process to the second... the first one still crashes out. Someone mentioned to me making sure that I was running polviewer in windowed mode, which I had been. Still isn't working, and it is getting really annoying. =/

    Do you have any registry edits for ffxi? Maybe everything is set way too high and it's crashing. Should try running both windows in a lower resolution and see if it works too.

    If your running Windows Vista you'll need to open up both instances of POL Viewer before doing any logging in. I've encountered similar issues when I don't open the 2 POLs before logging in. Usually I just run the launcher twice, and allow it both times. This occurs on my Windows XP SP3 laptop as well, so I would try opening both instances at the same time, logging one in all the way then the second, or alt-tab as you log in.

    Only reg edit I have is the background res. I'll try lowering that to 1024x1024.

    I'm running XP, but I'll try opening 2 pol viewers and getting those going before taking one fully into the game.

    {edit}
    Lowered the background resolution all the way to 640x640, booted them both up, then after ~20 seconds, got the following error on the second one.
    "The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000024) occurred in the application at location 0x7c964ed1"
    {/edit}

    Er, I don't know if this will help but as pointed out in the thread I started for help running a fullscreen game with FFXI, the priority plugin for windower might fix it >.>

    You can Disable UAC for you can open up a 2nd or 3rd window whenever

    I thought that I read somewhere that the priority plugin wasn't needed anymore with 3.4 version of windower. I'll try that out next time I boot into the game though.

    Yea, and disabling the UAC makes a Vista security feature completely worthless. I'd rather deal with 3seconds of delay and open both, then not use UAC.
