SHNM BC - Breaking the NM's Aura

    Re: http://wiki.bluegartr.com/Stronghold_Invasion

    My Theory:

#1) Somewhere just under 80%, the NM's Aura will wear off.
#2) After that, you have just under five minutes to kill the NM before the NM's Aura returns.

Evidence is lengthy and is posted at "Theory about the NM's Aura in the SHNM BCs".

Basically, in every case that I was able to observe, once the Aura broke, it either never returned or appeared to return after around five minutes.

I'm interested in hearing from those of you who have experienced these BCs - especially the Yagudo one.

That is untrue from personal experience, when we did it, it broke shortly after 60%-ish, then popped back on in less than a minute and commenced to aoe rape anyone who tried to melee it, alternating between invincible and it's aoe knockback.

Sorry to hear about your rough time. Well, I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Our last 2 orc runs, the aura broke around 80%ish, then immediately the orc used invincible, then the orc died within 3ish minutes without ever putting the aura back up. What you wrote supports the aura off > 2 hour. This tells us nothing about how to break the aura, but it does let you know when it's off, if you're too busy to stare at the NM and watch its aura.

Last time my group did the fight, we slugged through it until around 70%, and the aura fell. It came back around...30%, I think, and proceeded to Ghu'Da everybody nonstop.

There was some speculation in Tachi's post that Critical Hits/WS from behind would cause the Aura to wear, but I didn't see much of this when we did those BCs.

Here is the NM Damage Taken log from my last SHNM BC (September 23).
** Sorry for the lack of spoiler tags, but apparently, I'm doing it wrong.

I had hoped that the way to break the Aura was simply to beat the NM down to 80%, but that doesn't account for shinoniken's 60%. And while the "NM Damage Taken" logs did not entirely rule out the "taking Critical Hits/WS from behind" idea, it didn't seem to favor it either. So, at this point, I guess I still don't know exactly what causes it. Sorry.

Shinoniken's post above really confounds me. I guess I could say that the Aura will return in 5 minutes or it will return sooner if your alliance cannot keep up the damage. Although I wonder about that. I can't imagine that most alliances that have tried this BC couldn't do that.

Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough. We've almost got the containers turned in for another go at that Yagudo BC.

Burginator, do you remember about how long it took for the Aura to return? Was it very quickly or did it take a while?

This speculation was a pure mistake, i'm 100% sure that the aura break only with magic dmg. I film all the runs i have done and everytime the aura has disappeared after an magical attack.

About their 2h, they use it only 2 times (under 80~75% and 20~15%) so it's not random / based on a timer / aura.

Dang it, the answer was there staring me in the face the whole time. As far as the magic damage affecting the Aura, my "NM Damage Taken" logs show exactly what you describe, Tachi. On the other hand, the Yagudo NM used Astral Flow (to no effect) multiple times, but I think this may be SE's way of telling us that we were doing something wrong.

Now the question is: how to prevent the Aura from coming back. I thought it would be time-based, but shinoniken's observation may rule that out. Of course, it could be what I said earlier. Hopefully, my group can put this to good use on the upcoming Yagudo SHNM BC. Not really looking forward to that again. Felt like I left 10x my weight in blood in the BC.
