Check out your hardware specs- Suse has had issues recognizing broadcom cards in the past. You might have to install something like Ndiswrapper. As far as the audio, try using the Alsa architecture driver- tends to perform quite well. Have you tried the Suse and Ubuntu knowledge bases? The Ubuntu base is pretty extensive- and can be applied to non-Ubuntu distributions, Suse's wasn't as helpful when I last installed it.
PS: Why do you not like Ubuntu? Because it emphasizes gnome over KDE? >_> you can use KDE on the Ubuntu distro.
