Super Mario World

I know this isn't really a new game but I don't this should take long.

I was wondering if anyone knows what the highest number you can get on the Super Mario World title screen. This is a screen shot of the highest i have. I want to know if it is possible to get 100. Does the number correspond to a percent complete? any info would help. thanks.

Max is 96.

It's a count of the total 'exits' from all the levels.

Since this topic is for Super Mario World, :3 I would like to throw out that this ranks among one of my favorite childhood memories. I remember once I found out the Star Road shortcut it was like night/day since I had spent so long beating it all the way through. oh man how I love the old Mario platformers. IMO Mario games haven't been the same since Mario 64.

The last one I liked was Sunshine, nobody else I know likes it though.

Sunshine was awesome in my opinion. Sure they kinda made a cheaper less adventureous was to finish collection all the shines with less levels (stupid blue coins) in this game but still.

The whole tropical setting and everything was great I absolutely loved it.

I still think Super Mario 64 was the most exciting game of all time. I remember being twelve years old and playing it endlessly. The graphics and gameplay were unlike anything I'd ever dreamed of and the leap from Super Mario World was just so epic.

Yea, I justify 64 as being the better entry because of the leap that was involved along with the game itself. While the camera was awkward it was a huge leap from the 2d side scroller marios.

Sunshine was cool, but it wasn't a Mario 64. The top 3 Mario games IMO were Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and Mario 64. I have a shitload of memories playing Super Mario World with my mom like every week. She was always obsessed with getting every Yoshi coin, and we actually went through every level and did get every coin....it was good times.

There's 3-4 really good SMW3 hacks out there, 1 of which forces you to learn all of the mechanics to get through (the levels are designed in such a way that if you have no idea of the mechanics you will never win). I'm trying to obtain them but cannot find time to grab it lol, damn work...

SMW3 is one of my favourite games too, with M64. I just LOVED the "world" exploration thing at the time and it was all so pretty and colourful. Flying around with the wing cap thing was also good... ahhh memories.

Mario Galaxy was awesome in my opinion. It was one of the game I enjoyed the most in the last few years

Mario Galaxy was incredible. Its one of the very few games where I played all the way through as Mario, all the way through as Luigi, and then still wanted to play through the entire thing again immediately after finishing it twice.

Only stage that made me want to punch something was the 100 coins on a track. I died like at the same place 20-25 times (when the platform start rising vertically), and it was pissing me off

I hated the one where you had to collect 100 coins on the mario bitmap face... >.>

mmm.. Super Mario World.. one of my fave mario games of all time..
the secret area accessed from Star World was soo cool.. altho the funny thing was that I was stuck on the P-balloon stage longer than any of the other stages in there or any part of the game. Exiting that place gave all the monsters a different skin and the whole game looked trippy. It was fun.

Sunshine is definitely my favourite 3D mario. I think it was the tropical feel and FLUDD that did it for me.. The classic gameplay was all still there tho, with those star stage things.

Names of said hacks? Sounds interesting, to try and play with the mechanics and such.

But anyway, I loved Mario 64, but after getting all the stars a few times I got kinda bored of it BUT! Going back to it occasionally is a lot of fun.

Super Mario Bros. 3 was also great, but my favorite was by far Super Mario World.

In my opinion, Super Mario World > SMB3 = M64.
