I think Luis Cane may be a good underdog pick. Vera should be the better stand up fighter but he may be coming into this fight too light and could get bullied around by Jardine.

Vera set for crucial test against Jardine

By Dave Meltzer, Yahoo! Sports Oct 17, 2:43 pm EDT

On Oct. 4, while at the home of his grappling trainer, Lloyd Irvin, in Accokeek, Md., Irvin’s home was broken into by two gunmen at 4:30 a.m.

The gunmen pointed their weapons at Vera, Irvin, along with Irvin’s wife and young son, while demanding cash and jewelry.

While one gunmen focused on Vera, the other forced Irvin to go into the bedroom to get the family jewelry. While in the bedroom, feeling he was far enough away that he wouldn’t be putting his family in jeopardy, Irvin made a move and disarmed the gunman.

The intruder ran off, screaming to his partner that the guy had got the gun, and his partner then also ran off.

But with Vera in the final stages of training, only a few days before leaving for the United Kingdom for his UFC 89 fight on Saturday night with Keith Jardine in Birmingham, he’s tried as best he can to remove it from his mind.

“I don’t want to talk about it until after the fight,” Vera said. “We were back training the next day.”

Holy fuck. That's pretty damn ballsy to disarm a guy with a gun, Jesus. Glad they're all ok though.

So disappointing with Sam Stout's career. I now live in London, and his new gym (alongside Chris Horodecki and Mark Hominick) is about 15 mins away. I'm gonna eventually start training there since right now I'm gymless since moving here... But man, I thought he would have had a bright career, but there's no way he'll even get another chance in the UFC after this. He hasn't finished one opponent (in the UFC) and he's now 2-4 (in the UFC). Absolutely disappointed. :/

Fuck Bisping. Ya he won on points, but that faggot is nothing but a BITCH. I feel bad for Leben. He threw it all out there to try to get that fucking shitbag to fight, and lost because he didn't care about points, he cared about FIGHTING. So fucking pissed off at this fight. I hope Dana doesn't do shit with that asshole ever again. God I miss Pride... bullshit like Leben vs. Bisping would have resulted in Bisping losing for being a fucking pussy. Leben had complete control of the octagon the whole time and was the total agressor.

Jardine vs. Vera was an OK fight. Nothing spectacular.

Best fight was Lytle vs. Taylor. Those two were going NUTS on one another. That's what these fights should be all about.

This UFC was a disappointment. Lytle vs. Taylor was definately the best fight.

Middleweight bout: Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben
Bisping knew how to fight Leben, couldn't put him away. He basically won with one punch, the Jab. If Leben wanted to win, he should have done more than running around trying to club Bisping with his left punch.

Light Heavyweight bout: Keith Jardine vs. Brandon Vera
Was a decent fight, both had good round, but both got too careful at the end. Both tried to not lose the last round, instead of trying to win. I thought Vera would have beat him easily.

Was this the thing I saw on Saturday where every fighter had 'Condom Depot' plastered in huge letters all over their asses? Easily the most homoerotic thing I've ever seen in a proffessional fight.

I gathered that, I was just wondering if there was possibly a different location on their trunks they could have put it, like on the side of the legs.

they get more money for the rear and front of the trunks, similar to nascar sponsors more money for size and placement.

Yeah, I agree about Chris. I kept yelling at the screen to stop chasing that retard and let him come to Chris, but he didn't listen to me.

I want to ask Matt Hume so bad if he was telling Chris to do something other than what Chris was doing, but I'm not sure of the etiquette involved in asking a corner man what he was telling his fighter to do. I sure don't want to come off as presumptuous, but I'm honestly curious if Chris was ignoring a game plan Matt was proposing. (I train at the same place Chris does, under Matt Hume who was Chris' corner man.)

not wanting to answer the question for him, but it depends on the organization/athletic commission, though most tolerate ponytail or cornrows as a normal restraint. some prefer a short haircut and I believe the Nevada or New Jersey (one of the big ones) require clean shaven in their rules. Long hair doesn't affect clay guida that mofo doesn't even try to tie it up.

I tie it back like you've probably seen bikers do, in a ponytail using 4 hair ties. Then I stuff it down the back of my shirt. It's so long it usually stays there, unless I do lots of clockwise or counterclockwise rolling.

Yeah I've fought people with sandpaper face, and nails cut to a point before.

Remember what Shamrock did to Kimo's ponytail? LOL!!
