    A Question about Haste

Alright, I have a quick question about haste. I've been playing on Rdm, Nin, and PLD a lot lately and have a few sets I switch in and out of. I usually wear haste gear full time, but this prevents me from using other gear in certain slots.

So my question is this: If I swap into haste gear for spells or job abilities and then swap out of haste gear into other gear after casting, will my recast timers still be shorter?

Do I really have to wear haste gear full time to get the benefit of shorter recast timers?

Aslong as the haste gear is on when you actually cast the spell, your recast will be effected.

takes alot of work but spellcast comes in handy for what it seems you want to do

cast time (which haste does not affect but fast cast and some other gear/merits/etc do) is calculated at the start of the spell while recast time is calculated at the time the spell resolves. once each value is set, barring a reset ability like wild card, these timers can not be sped up or slowed down. equipping haste gear shortly before a spell resolves then pulling it off after it finishes will give you the full bonus of the gear. as was mentioned above as well, haste has absolutely 0 impact on JA recast, so either save yourself some keyboarding time or equip gear more relevant to the JA (like enmity gear if you're firing off souleater on nin/drk instead of haste gear)

so if you have all 3 fast cast traits (i assume they stack unlike clear mind etc, plz inform me if im wrong ^^) and warlock's chapeau and duelist's tabard, that would give you -40 casting time and -20 recast correct?

would that mean i only need haste spell (15%) and 15% more in gear to reach 50% recast? will -recast and haste work together like that or will i need more haste? it doesnt seem logical to me that they would work together like that, i mean obviously haste effects recasts but how much would i need to make them recast 50%.

That's correct Time, RDM can cap recasts rather easily

I wouldn't class Speed/Velocious Belt and Dusk Gloves +1 as items that are particularly easy to get one's hands on.

I'd class march as pretty reasonable though, especially if you cotank with a non-RDM

Fastcast's effect on recast timers works /w haste, but it's not cumulative and instead act as two different terms.

    New Recast = floor( [1-Fast Cast] * ( [1-Haste] * Recast ) )
(Round to the 10ths place after each step.)

As it shows, Haste is multiplied first to reduce the timer. Then fast cast is multiplied after to reduce the timers further. The notable Fast Cast terms are as follows:

Fast Cast II: 72/1024 (Includes FC I)
Fast Cast III: 102/1024 (Includes FC I + II)
    RDM AF1 Hat: 51/1024
    RDM AF2 Body: 51/1024
    Loq Earring: 10/1024

Assuming you are a 75 RDM /w AF1 Hat, AF2 Body, and Loq earring, the fast cast term on recast would be 214/1024.

Working the math backwards. You'd need about ~377/1024 haste, to reach the 50% cap. 150/1024 from haste spell leaves 227/1024 haste... thats roughly 22% haste in gear/songs.

Hence why soloing RDMs can't quite push Ni recast down to 23 seconds, I suppose.

Do you have these number for march 1 and 2? Judging on the number here with March2 on as RDM/NIN you would need very little haste to cap out (maybe gloves and belt only)

Ah, sorry. I thought OP meant tanking since they also mentioned NIN and PLD, but I guess they weren't really specific.
