This looks awesome. The Bowser manipulation mechanic is sweet. Good baby replacement.

I just hope the game-world isn't based around a hub, that was my biggest complaint about Partners in Time over the original game. Looking great, and glad to see they're sticking to the sprite look still, that stuff never ages badly.

Nice, those games are fun to play.

Only problem is that none of them are "super mario rpg".

They make up for the fact that they're not SMRPG by being better than it.

Edit: Okay I won't even pretend that Partners in Time was better than SMRPG, but I enjoyed Superstar Saga way more than I did SMRPG. But it was never released in Europe so I only actually played it recently, so I don't get the enjoy the whole nostalgia making shit better thing.

Must agree... tbh I didn't really like SMRPG all that much.

I don't know about this. They improved many things, but I never had as much fun exploring the world as I did in SMRPG. It usually feel smaller and more linear (not that smrpg wasn't linear, but you had a lot more backtracking to do when you were looking for secret.)

    "Where are we Luigi?"

As long as it's better than Partners in Time (fun, but unmemorable) I'm there

Looks really good. I'd play a game just based around Bowser too. Only thing that bugs me is the way that mario/luigi dance while not acting in battle. Really dumb.

It's all right, you're not so tough that you can't enjoy two pudgy cartoon characters getting down with their bad selves. You'll still have your manhood if you laugh at it.

Looks fun and I love the series, but I really wish they'd get off their asses and make a follow-up to Super Mario RPG instead of endless mario&luigi/paper mario sequels ;/

An insatiable need to worship Square runs strong here. Very shocking.

    There is more than that.

SMRPG had a ton of traditional rpg elements with a bunch of new gimmicks. The newer games kept (and improved) those gimmicks, but they took out what I like about RPG. Actually, those game don't feel like rpg at all.

It's not a bad thing, it's just that I would like more side quest's more equipments and character that do more than tag along for a short time.

That's a different, more complex type of RPG, and it's not what the Mario series represents presently. Part of the current type's appeal is its relative simplicity, and thus its more easy-going nature. It's doubtful that the Mario RPG series will ever be like "common RPGs" again, especially because they provide something somewhat unique among turn-based titles (with real-time elements mixed in). There is a specific reason to turn to these games instead of, say, ATLUS's latest release. They stand apart.

It isn't bad to like a more complicated RPG, but I doubt Nintendo is ever going to return to it. They have a good thing going, and there's no reason to fix what isn't broken.

Game is near the top of do want list. The trailer is undistilled madness. Granted it is in Japanese...

I loved Superstar Saga but passed up Partners in Time; how was it?
