Looking for advice on setting up a donation fund

The situation is that my cousin's daughter was diagnosed with leukemia recently and we were hoping to raise money for the family. They're uninsured and likely won't even be home much less working for awhile after they left for the children's hospital she's being treated at in Gainesville. Currently they're getting personal donations sent to a paypal account, but I've heard enough stories about paypal freezing funds or taking issue with how donation drives are held that I wanted to see what options would be better.

With that said, what's the best way to go about this? As far as I know this will mostly revolve around which site hosts the fundraiser -- are there any to watch out for? I'm only aware of gofundme and giveforward, but is there anywhere else that might be better or take a smaller percentage of what's raised? Thank you for any help. I'll post back here once this happens if anyone would like to donate.

I came across http://www.youcaring.com/fees and from what I can tell they'd take the least amount out of whatever we could raise; anyone with experience here?

Also, is anyone aware of whether these types of sites allow you to make use of the funds as they're being contributed instead of needing to meet or set a goal? I'm wondering too whether it'd actually be worth using one of the more well-known sites to do this in the event anonymous donors actually end up contributing something meaningful.

I know this whole thing is a bit ambiguous, I'm just looking for any form of advice surrounding this to really make it pay off for them.

Have your cousin go to their bank and set up a contribution account. The bank I work for will make sure all of the fees are waived for these accounts, and they put it on a list so people can come to any branch and put money in the "Jane Doe contribution account." Not an alternative to the online options, but should be free and easy to do locally. Might use the bank with the largest branch network in the area too to make it easy.

I know paypal has something for donation type funds and such. I don't know much of it. I hope things work out for you!

Make sure that on Oct. 1st, 2013 they sign up for health insurance (which would start Jan 1st, 2014) - should greatly help with their costs.

Starting in 2014, being sick won't keep you from getting health coverage. An insurance company can't turn you down or charge you more because of your condition.

Once you have insurance, it can't refuse to cover treatment for pre-existing conditions. Coverage for your pre-existing conditions begins immediately.

This is true even if you have been turned down or refused coverage due to a pre-existing condition in the past.

You can apply for Marketplace insurance as soon as October 1, 2013. Coverage can begin as soon as January 1, 2014.
