    FFVII

    Here's the deal.

I am just going to come out and say it: I want to download a clean copy of FFVII off the internet.

I don't know of any sites where I can do so, or files off megaupload or anything.

If anyone knows of any sites or anything, PM me or post it here, either is fine.

P.S. Did a forum search and couldn't find what I was looking for.

There's no forum rule on this, but let's try to keep the board clean of posting links to pirated material. Link the general site if you want, or PM the OP.

Don't get the PC version (unless you have a decent Windows 98 machine). Consider this a warning.

Ironic this thread being here. Two nights ago I downloaded the full, working copy with high resolution/8-bit pallet fix. Ran perfectly fine on my PC with the 8.11 catalyst drivers, no glitches, or problems at all for that matter.

Not going to drop a link, since it was a private tracker anyways. But heres the link to the launcher you can download.

FF8 Launcher - Custom resolutions and 8-bit paletted textures fix (patch)

Also don't forget to update FF8 to version 1.02 before using that launcher, and user PowerISO to mount, etc.

FF7 is moderately more incompatible with xp/vista then FF8 was, but that doesn't mean you can't get it to work.

I'm gonna have to try this out again now that I've switched to an ATI card. I tried getting FF7 to run before with my 8600GT and it just wouldn't go past the new game screen for some reason.

You have to go through the config and fiddle with a few things, heck, I had it running on vista a few months back.

It's still glitchy as fuck at some points, best on console.

Ok so I tried to start up an FFVII version on ePSXe, and I got the following errors.

    Missing render-texture extension.
    No pixel format available.

Then the program just freezes and asks me if I want to solve the problem, etc.

I'm using Pete's Open GL2 Driver for the video settings.

Was wondering if anyone had used it beofre and could help me out.

    * This is caused by graphics cards that don't support the OGL2 plugin's new features (render to texture, pixel shaders). In this case, use the regular OpenGL plugin, or depending on how bad your graphics card is, use Peops Software GPU.
    * You can work around this by setting Render Mode to 1. Keep in mind that with your slower card you won't be able to run all (or any) of OGL2's fancy features like high internal resolution, screen filters, shaders, etc. Try turning down the resolution if you're having slowdown issues.
lots of useful troubleshooting and config help topics on this forum

I would definitely recommend playing the PSX version. I did this recently, here's a screenshot I suppose.

It's being cell shaded, as you can probably tell. This particular screenshot doesn't really do much justice to how good it can look being emulated, it's just the first save state I happened to load.
