Guttler Owners. A Few Questions.

I don't think I will get many/ if any responses because so few that have read bg.

The reason of my random questions. UAE guy I know has the frag/ast/currency/Orge Killer and wants to do a trade for my Kikoku Ninja. And I need a change in this game bad after this mythic shit. So comments/answers will be greatly appreciated .. GREATLY..

Prolly just delete this thread there isn't much info available, there maybe 1 bg reader who has but looks like hes been inactive for awhile (Oct according to ffxiah) I think it's the same dude in LW's ls who has gonna send him a pm.

Dont have obviously, but I think you could reason out the best DPS equipment (pretty much just like a war).

Gutler/Temperance
Turban/heca
E.body
dusk+1
cerb+1
Haidate
Dusk+1
etc etc.

Your DPS, even with gutler, will be about the same as an equally well geared war due to loss of berzerk/DA/aggressor/etc. The WS itself is nifty, but ends up being less than rampage from what ive read. Makes soloing slightly easier (and harder with random triple procs). Makes meriting a bit easier due to people actually willing to party with your bst. Other than that, still pretty useless on HNM and most things in the game.

At least it talks the most shit in campaign.

there's a JP E body BST named Anli on Ifrit with Guttler, make a mule and ask them what's up, they're generally pretty nice (general impression, don't know them personally) but tbh I don't know how good thei english is

think it's her 2nd(3rd?) relic. did a PLD one may have done swd and shield

UAE buddy also has 30k alex/titles/amps still lacks salvage redo. I wonder how BST/NIN duel wielding with Aymur would put out or pointless I never do the stats that's what standard's for.

With my sellables he wants a straight up trade I'm just not sure if its possible to make a bst into a force in the HNM scene.

I'd venture to say its not possible. BST just isnt a used job for most endgame events.

Really relics aren't life-changing, giving jobs a new use in endgame they previously didn't have before. So if BST wasn't used in endgame before, then relic axe sure as hell won't make them into an EG job. That isnt to say they can't be used in EG as many LS use them as they would any other DD for stuff.

Yeah, Epigram is inactive and the person who he entrusted with his account has also moved on, so he's undeleted but unused, and I don't think he forum surfs anymore.

The only thing BST really doesn't do well with is zergs. The job simply doesn't have the spike damage capability to prove useful. That said, based on my experience with maneater/temp. you'd parse with the best DD using Guttler/Temp. or Guttler/Ridill(merits, if available) in any situation where the fight(s) last longer than a minute or two.

That said, nobody will invite you to shit (maybe merits since you have an omgrelic), and you will be told time and time again that "BST just isn't ideal for HNM" and the like. You'll be told you feed the mob too much TP while MNKs are OK. You'll be told you don't do enough damage while a SAM you outdamage on a daily basis is OK. People love to calculate "DoT" using WS damage alone, and BST just can't win out with this mindset.

One option are shells like Monsters Inc. that do things like this: YouTube - Monsters Inc. Collection

The frustrating things about pet shells though (even the best), are that they don't tend to camp kings, and that everyone wants the same damn drops because everyone has the same damn jobs.

In the end, BST is a very powerful yet very underrated job that can be incredibly fun yet incredibly frustrating, and it is not a job I'd recommend committing to at the relic level without making sure you really enjoy it first.

Just my general view. BST was the shit back in the days. But ToAU really hurt it. There was like nothing useful there to do with it.

But now SCNM and ZNM bring BST back again. BST is really sweet on those. Í should totally finish my 71 BST haha

The pet damage tends to make up for that you just pt with shitty bsts. However joyeuse's piercing damage is just too much rape on birds.

A BST with Guttler wouldn't be restricted to subbing NIN for Temp Axe. The major advantage BST has over all job classes (even SMN) is long-term hate-free damage with Snarl. I have no idea if the DPS from Guttler and /WAR would outweigh the extra WSs from Guttler/Temp, but I suspect it's probably more than most people have considered. Not having to think at all about defensive capabilities, as well as being able to eat top-tier food without worries of having it stolen, is a nice perk of BSTs at birds.

Speaking of piercing bonus, has anyone seen tests showing if any of the common HQ jug pets have a piercing type attack?

I know I'll get a few "lolz" here, but back in the day when we'd kite Kirin, all the linkshells would use a NIN or a PLD to kite him while doing ranged/WS/pet damage for a 45 min or so kill.

Our linkshell was the first on Unicorn to throw a BST at it. Back then everyone was like "lolnowai, BST can't tank Kirin!" but he wanted to do it. The entire run I had in the shell, he was the official "tank/kiter" and he whooped the crap out of anyone else who tried due to his great gear (sans-guttler) and skill.

So I think yes, you can definitely turn a BST into a force in the HNM scene. You just need a linkshell that's open minded enough to think outside the box, and you need to own the job (which I have no doubt you can).

Of course, I'm of the camp that thinks Izzy can out DPS most normal geared DD's on his WHM so take my opinion as you will.

Bst is awesome for kiting kirin, MonstersInc on Ramuh use Bst/Nins during the kite, Charm is on 15 sec timer and gives strong hate as well as bind effect, its suprising how much breathing room that second or so of bind gives the kiter.

Sigh i just wrote out a whole post then realized I just restated everything Riel said. Yea so anyway, ask this "UAE Guy" to show you what it can do. See how he performs in a merit party, see what his ls lets him do endgame and how he uses it. Sure its a new job and new jobs can be fun, but if you dont get any use out of it because most shells "misunderstand" bst or you get very few invites you will long for your kikoku again.

One thing to say though about meripos. Ive partied with a few bsts, not extremely well geared but had lots of endgame stuff because they have a war or a thf. Meripo is all about DPS. Anytime you stop to make your pet do an action its taking away from your DPS (which is slightly less then war to begin with). Id rather just have a well geared war with autotarget on whacking away at things... though ill take a well geared bst over a gimp war anyday.
