Reacquiring AF after upgrade

I have several pieces of AF to obtain to allow storing on NPC. My question is, do I have to pitch the AF2 hands, repeat that part of thequest to be able to open the coffers?

I started with RNG body and have completed the AF1. I would like to know before heading over to Manastic to murder the key mobs. Hate to waste the extra time.

You have to restart the hands quest, but you don't have to throw away your old ones. Once the quest is started, you can open any of the 3 coffers.

Hate to be thickheaded. Guslam Does not offer a quest to me. He congradulates me for finding some gloves and reaffirms his love of working in the shop. UGGH I really hate to be thick.

You don't even have to start the hands quest again. Just restart the quest for the Hunter's Beret. Then you can open the coffers for the Braccae and Jerkin.

You must have another hands quest active, or haven't opened all 3 coffers yet.

Assumption : completed AF quests 1-3 and open 3 coffers : obtain weapon + 5 AF

Method 1)
Upgrade a piece to AF+1
Toss rest of AF
Talk to NPC to clear memory of quest
Redo quests 1-3 and open the 3 coffers

Method 2)
Store the full AF set
Talk to NPC to clear memory of quest
Redo quests 1-3 and open the 3 coffers
Toss pieces you dont want, Upgrade ones you do want to +1

Sticky points : having multiple AF quests open, hands specifically.

Well, yeah, you always start with doing the weapon, but the OP said he had done that already, so I didn't list it.

Can restart as many times as you want, but you don't get the option to unless you've finished the entire quest line.

Getting the same set of AF a third time is one of those tricky issues I hadn't heard a definite yes/no on either. Thanks for the help, Ryphen. :D

If you need/want to restart the AF quests to reobtain AF, you need to first wipe your memory, which costs 10k from the guy in Lower Jeuno's magic shop (dunno the name), then you gotta restart the entire quest line, starting with the weapon.

Added note: When I redid SCH Body quest, I had to redo Klimaform and had to complete (not just restart) AF hands in order to get the Body mini quest. For the first 15 jobs I hear you only have to start AF2 to redo hands (been too long since I did them =S)
