Rogue question (since I'm new to this still)

I've asked a lv 80 from my guild about it but a couple others have told me "You're doing it wrong" so I was wondering how a level 42ish BE Rogue should spec himself if I'm just worried about the best soloing levels setup.

If people want my current talent tree, I'll gladly post it but I'm really just looking for some ideas and suggestions on how I should spec.

    Any help appreciated

Go combat, ignore all stealth and pvp talents, pick up the shit that makes your offhand worthwhile, and get as much damage as you possibly can.

Leveling as a rogue is most effective if you just pretend you're a warrior that can stealth to save time getting to objectives.

Trying to ambush shit, or use mutilate builds etc will just waste your time. Get a good slow mainhand and a good fast offhand and just tear shit apart.

    Combat.

Look at it like this -

    Assassination - needs stealth

    Subtlety - needs stealth

    Combat - doesn't need stealth.

If you got a link and you couldnt stealth the top two are usless.

Combat gives nice PVE survivability talents for you to pick up which are nice for leveling. I leveled as combat and respeced mutilate at 80.

Swords. Lots and lots of swords. Not daggers. Swords will be consistently higher overall whereas daggers were burst. If you want to make macros to switch from dagger for BS>Swords, that could work, but I usually used the initial Cheap Shot to build points for SnD.

Other than Blade Flurry, you should be using almost every ability on it's cooldown (That and the survival ones like Vanish).

Maces and fists work too, maces can be easy to find, fists on the other hand you'll almost never find any while leveling that will last more than a few hours if you're leveling fast.

It's a shame too, because there's a good number of fist weapons that are awesome looking

Yeah, I spent way too much time when I was leveling rogue trying to get a hold of some decent fist weapons, never got a single one at a level where it was actually useful.

I was on a low pop server, couldn't even find people to make the JC ones ><

I only said swords because they're a dime a dozen until you get to the outlands then you can find maces and fist weapons a tad easier.
Also make a macro to pickpocket ALL humanoids and keep your lockpicking up. Turn on autoloot and this'll be easy.
Pickpocket>Cheapshot macro and double press it. You get all the lockboxes they carry which hold the items to make poisons, vanish, blind, etc. Saves you tons of time and money and since they don't stack, clears space, actually makes you money in the long run if you sell the extras.

There are no reagents for poisons/blind anymore, but lockboxes do hold poisons themselves, silver/gold, green items and a chance at a purple or 2.

Yeah, been doing the lockpicking thing while running from 80s in STV. PvP servers are a great way to test how long you can laugh at people wasting their time to camp you, imo.
